This is the second time I’ve stayed at sanctuary cap Cana booked through Costco. The first time I stayed was in 2024 and it was phenomenal, the rooms were nice, the service was fantastic, and so many different restaurants were included. Now that I’ve visited again in 2026 after it transitioned multiple times in 2025, it’s a shell of what it used to be. The food overall is still on average better than most all inclusive/cruises, however there’s a lot of dishes across the different restaurants that are way too salty. The service is also hit or miss, some waiters are amazing and others forget to even bring enough menus. When I came in 2024 the staff also on average could understand us better where as this time there are times where it’s hard to communicate to the staff. Additionally a lot of the restaurants no longer are included like the pizza place and sushi place used to be included, however are no longer included. All the restaurants and snack places that are included also aren’t open all the time, so your choices on a daily basis are limited. For the events I remember in 2024 even if it was just me and my friend they would still run the activities but now if it’s like an exercise class or activity with only 2 people they’ll cancel it rather than run it. It’s so sad, because I used to rave about this place as the most worth it place to go to all inclusive wise, now it’s mediocre at best. I don’t think I’ll be coming back or recommending it anymore to friends and coworkers in the future. Will also be posting this review on Costco, as it’s no longer a worth it package anymore.

My wife and I traveled here and stayed 5 days/4 nights the first week of May 2026. We stayed in “The Castle” with a walk out oceanfront room. This was our first all inclusive experience and we really enjoyed it. The food was great and all the staff were extremely polite/helpful. Several pools to choose from and the resort felt pretty empty (likely since it was after peak season). We chose this resort as it was recommended for a more relaxing experience without the “party” vibe. Many of the couples were older or newlyweds, which is what we were hoping for. We also got a couple’s massage at the spa, which was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a more relaxing experience and not a party crowd.

Relaxing Atmosphere, Beautiful Rooms, and Warm Hospitality Sanctuary at Cap Cana delivers the kind of atmosphere that makes a getaway feel effortless. The resort has a calm, upscale vibe that sets the tone the moment you arrive. My room was very nice—well‑kept, comfortable, and designed to make you feel like you’re truly on vacation. One of the highlights of the stay was the people. Everyone I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making guests feel at home. The food throughout the resort was well presented, with dishes that looked as good as they tasted. The only thing I’d suggest for future visitors is to plan your trip during a time of year when seaweed isn’t heavy on the beaches. It’s a natural occurrence in the region, but it can affect the shoreline experience depending on the season. Overall, Sanctuary at Cap Cana offers a wonderful atmosphere, great service, and a relaxing stay—just be mindful of the seaweed season when choosing your dates.

This was my first resort stay. I thought I’d share my impressions. However, a lot of this is based on expectations that may not be reasonable. The good: The room was great! They gave us an upgrade on arrival and we had a great room with a fantastic ocean view. The food: The food met or exceeded my expectations for the most part. I especially enjoyed the Asian restaurant, I gave them 5 stars! The service: the service felt exceptional to me. Whenever we had an issue it was promptly dealt with and the staff outside of a lone barista were all super friendly and attentive. The bad: and these are almost all examples of perhaps my expectations being too high. I’m visiting the carribean and I expected a few things I didn’t get. #1- the beach. This was the biggest letdown. The beach here while private was closed the entire trip. I think that Marriott may argue that this was beyond their control, but we were able to walk up the beach and use them without much effort. So, Hyatt didn’t seem to have the same difficulty providing a beach to their guests that Marriott did. Even if the beach had been open it would have been very small and not that pretty. If you, like us, are looking to enjoy the beach and ocean I would suggest looking elsewhere. #2: seafood. We traveled from Utah to the carribean and expected to be treated to amazing seafood. There was almost none to be found. The buffet had no shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. you could get fish. And the seafood restaurant was not much better! Of all the restaurants here the food there was the least impressive. I would have thought a stay in a resort this expensive would include a seafood buffet. #3: this is minor, but it was almost impossible to get a coconut. We had to walk up to the Hyatt up the beach where the employee there took pity on us and gave us a coconut from their stand where their guests can get them free all day. Lastly: another minor nit. It would have been very nice for the bars to be able to prepare drinks made with fresh fruits instead of just artificial flavors. But probably most folks don’t care that much as long as the alcohol is there. All in all a mixed bag. I give it 3 of 5 stars. But my next trip to the DR I will be looking to try a different resort.

Our experience at Sanctuary Cap Cana was a mix of emotions. Without a doubt, the best part of the resort was its staff. I would especially like to recognize Glory from Casa Bella, who always greeted us with a smile and had a beautiful fruit platter prepared especially for us, including mangoes, which she knew we loved. We would also like to thank Juan, who took care of us during breakfast and was always kind, attentive, and professional. A very special thank you goes to Sheyla, who worked by the pool. Starting on our second day, she already had our towels prepared and our lounge chairs ready every morning. That kind of personalized attention made us feel truly welcomed. We would also like to recognize Franyer from the entertainment team for his energy, enthusiasm, and kindness throughout our stay. We also do not want to forget our butler, Joan. He was always willing to help whenever we had issues with our room. He was attentive, professional, and made sure our concerns were addressed quickly. His excellent service made a big difference during our stay. Although we have mentioned a few names, we apologize for not remembering every staff member who made our stay special. Every person we interacted with treated us with kindness, respect, and a smile. The entire team was truly exceptional. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Whatever the resort may have lacked in certain areas, the employees more than made up for it through their dedication and outstanding service. Our biggest disappointment was that the Wok restaurant closed on the very day we arrived and remained closed for virtually our entire stay. Considering that Sanctuary does not have a large number of restaurant options to begin with, losing one of its dining venues was very noticeable. Additionally, we only learned after arriving that the poolside food and bar area operated only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It would have been helpful to know this beforehand or to have additional food options available during the week. We greatly appreciated being treated to dinner at one of the restaurants in Sanctuary Town on our last night. However, because of the extended closure of the Wok restaurant, we believe the resort could have been more flexible and offered this experience to affected guests earlier in their stay. In summary, we left with mixed feelings. The staff deserves five stars for their dedication, hospitality, and exceptional attention to guests. Thanks to them, we enjoyed our stay and created wonderful memories. We hope management will consider providing better alternatives when one of the resort’s main dining options is unavailable for such an extended period. Without a doubt, we will remember the people who made our trip special. They are the true heart of Sanctuary Cap Cana.
