UPDATE: I wanted to revise my original review because the resort truly took our concerns seriously and turned our experience around. Our first night was very disappointing, from the confusion over connecting rooms to the condition of our rooms and the lack of attentiveness we expected with the Diamond Club VIP package. Since then, our butler, Kelvin, has completely changed the course of this trip. He advocated for our family and helped us get the connecting rooms we had requested from the beginning. We were moved into brighter, fresher rooms that are in much better condition, and it finally feels like we're getting the experience we paid for. The staff member involved in our original room request also reached out after seeing our review. He apologized and listened to our concerns, and worked to make things right. I stand by the frustrations we experienced initially, but I also believe a great resort is defined by how it handles problems. They listened, took action, and restored our confidence in this vacation. Our hopes for the rest of the trip are now very high, and we're grateful for the effort the team made to turn things around. Original: Very disappointed, especially considering the price point, reputation and the fact that we paid extra for the Diamond Club VIP package. We traveled to Punta Cana for a special family reunion with relatives visiting from Hong Kong. Before arriving, we booked through American Express and specifically requested connecting rooms. At check-in, which took nearly an hour, we repeated that request only to be told that our room category didn't qualify and that we would have to pay an additional $160 per person, per day. We were also told our rooms were next to each other…..which wasn't true. Ironically, one of the rooms we were assigned already had a connecting door. The service throughout the resort has been the biggest letdown. Staff members often seem eager to end conversations rather than help resolve concerns, leaving us feeling like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. This has been especially disappointing given that we paid extra for the Diamond Club VIP package. So far, there has been little that feels "VIP" about the level of attentiveness or service we've received. The rooms themselves had multiple issues, including a strong damp smell and other maintenance issues. I rarely leave negative reviews, especially after just one night, but first impressions matter. What should have been a memorable family vacation has instead started with frustration and disappointment. I sincerely hope the rest of our stay improves.

We had a wonderful stay at Royalton Bavaro, and a big part of that experience was our butler, Albert Perez. Albert was always accessible, responsive, and genuinely eager to help. He handled our daily restaurant reservations with ease, but what truly set him apart was the way he created special moments for our family. He surprised our kids with pool floats, helped us navigate off-site excursions and airport transportation, and was always available whenever we had questions. When we accidentally broke a glass in our room, Albert immediately coordinated to have it cleaned up quickly and safely. Throughout our stay, he demonstrated a level of kindness and attentiveness that made us feel valued as guests. He never made us feel like we were a bother, no matter how small the request. Beyond Albert’s exceptional service, we were extremely impressed with the resort itself. The food quality at the restaurants was superb - the Food and Beverage Director Mayra is a true standout and one of my favorite associates at the property. You can tell she is proud and wants the guests to have good restaurant experiences. Our family is not fond of the open buffet, so we did not experience that offering. The grounds were maintained; guest rooms were clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job and was very attentive. There was no shortage of activities for families and children, from the pools and beach to the water attractions (lazy river, FlowRider) and daily entertainment. We were especially impressed with the daily pool activities (foam party, DJs, massage chairs) and evening shows (i.e. Carnival and famous celebrity “experiences”). Royalton Bavaro offers something for everyone, making it an excellent choice for families looking for a fun, relaxing, and memorable vacation.

The good: ●Overall, the resort is beautiful, and the rooms are well-maintained and comfortable. The lazy river was by far our favorite feature and one of the highlights of our stay. The resort also hosts nightly shows, which provide some enjoyable entertainment for guests. The food quality at the restaurants was good; however, securing a reservation was extremely difficult unless you were willing to dine at 9:30 PM, which is often close to closing time. The bad: ●I racked up $200 in roaming charges trying to get ahold of front desk as I needed to modify my reservation and NOBODY picked up. When I got there and asked to speak with manager the declined. ●The hotel staff at the bars and restaurants had the worst attitude. You ask for a refill on your water and they give you the ugliest smirk. Makes you feel bad for asking anything. ●They left us with no towels in my room after room service. I called to request new ones and TWO HOURS later they brought some after we had been soaked from being in the pool. ●Lastly and most importantly: COCKROACHES, on 4 different days we saw cockroaches in the buffet RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOOD. The last night we were able to capture a video. I spoke with the lead in charge, he apologized but didnt do anything about it. Final Thoughts: My family and I are very easygoing travelers. We understand that no resort experience will be perfect, and we are generally accommodating and understanding when issues arise. However, after spending approximately $2,000 on our stay, the level of service and the sanitation concerns we experienced were extremely disappointing and far below what we expected.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel,the hospitality was amazing and my concierge that was working with all the people who came in using expedia was amazing. His name is Edgar, he made our experience very pleasant and helped us out with anything we needed.i would definitely be visiting again. That said, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The rooms, bathrooms, and some of the amenities would benefit from more attention to detail and upkeep. While everything was functional, a higher level of maintenance and attention to cleanliness and presentation would better match the overall quality and reputation of the property. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed our stay and would gladly return, especially because of the outstanding service provided by Edgar. Thank you for making our vacation special.

Our stay at Royalton Bavaro started off a little rocky when our original butler was never introduced to us, but the situation was quickly turned around and we ended up having one of the best resort experiences thanks to Edwin. He truly went above and beyond for us, and our stay would not have been nearly as enjoyable without his kindness, professionalism, and constant assistance. We are so grateful for everything he did to make our short trip relaxing and stress-free. As Prime Members, it can sometimes feel overwhelming upon arrival with multiple people promising assistance that doesn’t always follow through, so I really want to recognize Evelys, Edwin, and Jared for genuinely being there for us and making sure we were taken care of throughout our stay. The resort itself is beautiful, very well maintained, and has a relaxing atmosphere perfect for unwinding. The food was excellent, especially at Rio, which was one of our favorite dining experiences. Also, a special shoutout to Miguel at the Diamond Club Pool Bar — amazing service and such a friendly personality! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return. Thank you to the staff who made our vacation memorable!
