The resort has met all our expectations, well equipped for several different activities, an amazing beach, pools and restaurants. The food is various, great for any kind of taste, different themes per night which allow you to experience different flavours and cuisines. The entertainment team is the best part of the resort, always up for a game or a dance lession or a fitness activity, never pushy and always smiley! The dancing classes were my fav! The room met our expectations, clean and spacious, just a small down side, it was a bit humid and the clothes felt a bit wet. A special thanks is for our super amazing concierge, Bella. She has been just perfect, smiley, lovely, always ready to help and give advices, address us to the right people and answer to any of our questions, plus for my birthday she managed to sort out special treats for me and i couldn't be happier! A definitely positive experience very recommended to all.

I stayed here for 1 week and very good experience! Only negative thing to note is we were offered a 500 USD credit, turns out it’s a credit of 25$ per over 100$ USD spent on the spa or wine, but we weren’t properly explained. Also the staff were friendly but did not speak much English, so a few times we had a big language barrier, so I’d suggest a quick brush up on Spanish a few weeks before. Our room was clean, and there is filtered water stations around the hotel to fill provided glass bottles. We also used the gym, and did a Pilates class which was also fully in Spanish. The food was good! The buffet did have lots of options, the omelette station in the morning was great, also lots of fresh fruit. At lunch there are essentially 2 buffets available, the one on the beach more fast food, the one near the lobby had more healthy options. I ate ceviche and other seafood and had no stomach problems. There were many different cocktails which are all very sweet but if you can manage to communiste you can get them sugar free (such as a mojito no sugar) At dinner if you go to the concierge you can book 3 different restaurants. We tried the Mexican, very good. The French was limited options, italien food for a resort. They also have a smokehouse next to the beach and that might have been our favourite. We realized on day 2 that the difference in the resorts is the restaurants/buffets, bar and beach service. The beach is nice, there is a lot of seaweed but they pass with a truck a few times a day to rake it away. If I were to come back I would book the higher level at the Bávaro to have access to more, although it is on the same resort. I would definitely come back to an Iberostar we had a great time! Aside from the hotel beware if you uber from the airport the uber pick spot is from Terminal A and the wifi is not reliable, so you need data to book your ride. You will have someone trying to sell you a cab ride every 4 seconds but if you don’t know what it should cost or speak Spanish I wouldn’t feel comfortable with it.

We had a room in building 5 on the top floor. The room itself had a huge vaulted ceiling and the bathroom was fantastic! A couple of problems - we had two rooms for my party of 7 (my wife, kids and I). The room with the ocean view was tied to the older kids while my wife and I had the garden view. The first night, the air conditioner was dripping water and we woke up with a wet bed ☹️ The beach was beautiful, but very packed! Lots of guys that want you to go parasailing and do other water activities. This was nice as there isn't much to do on the resort outside of swim, drink, eat, or play ping pong. The resort offers some in site shopping. The buffets were ok...nothing to write home about. Buffet foods were bland and didn't really have any Dominican flavor like you would find once you got off of the resort. The Japanese and Mexican restaurants were great, while the American restaurant fell flat. It was extremely tough to get refills unless you went to a bar or got them yourself. Even getting drinks during your meal can be tough. Not a lot of English spoken on the resort and those that do speak decent English want you to go to the "timeshare" breakfast so they get their points. My wife and I decided not to go to the breakfast and we were hounded daily by the front desk staff about going. We didn't not see any travel agents on the resort (Amstar or any other travel service). The resort is really close to the free shopping - a nearby store called Worldmart. This place doesn't offer a local shopping experience like you may find further away. Zero negotiating and you are clearly not supporting locals. Overall, this was a super clean and beautiful resort, but service and food were mediocre at best. The staff was very friendly, but really pushed timeshares.

Do not stay here! The room is average. The pool, beach and gardens are all well maintained. "La Pagoda" and "Marie Bonita" restaurants had great food and timely service. That is where the positive ends. There is clearly a management and communication breakdown at this hotel, which affected everything from meals, to activities, to room maintenance requests. Most staff speaks little to no English, but even with one individual in our party who speaks fluent Spanish and others who are conversational, we still could not get accurate or responsive information. The app is worthless. It has restaurants on the app (and map) that no longer exist. It will show an activity or show and you will show up or wait (Circus show or kids craft) and it will never happen. Then you will start asking if other shows or activities are happening (fire show), you will be clearly told "no, it is not happening", and then it does happen!? Staff will sit in the kids center - which both the door sign and app saying is open - and refuse to open the door, taking selfies and refusing to acknowledging us standing there, even if just to say they were closed. Our room toilet broke several times and it often took an entire day to be serviced. On another occasions I called for more toilet paper as we were completely out and was told to call back the next morning as no one was working who could assist us?! The buffet food is below average - the variety does not change, you can tell they reuse food that was not eaten the night before and put it back out the following lunch, there are not enough serving spoons, etc. so people use their hands to grab items (?!?!) At the Italian restaurant our group had the first reservation at 6pm (which mind you getting reservations was a confusing process in itself), no drink service ever (we ended up going to the bar in the lobby to get our own drinks) and it took over two hours to get our entrees. The table behind us just got up and left. Also two shot glasses were dropped next to our table by the server and never cleaned up, leaving glass everywhere. We were there over New Years and NO ONE could tell us what was going on for a New Year celebration. We collectively asked at least 6 people and no one knew. Foam party at the pool? Foam machine didn't work and then was rescheduled for an hour later. You notify staff of a peanut allergy (by the fluent Spanish speaking guest) and they literally brought out a bowl of peanuts!?! In the kids center, the trampoline area is broken and my guess is it will stay that way indefinitely. They have a play/tube area and we asked when that is cleaned and the young woman said they don't clean it, so be prepared to leave with some sickness. Apparently you are only allowed one set of pool towels a day but no one warns you and an inadequate sign at the towel hut does little to explain why. But then again, if you go on a different day with a different worker they could care less and give you whatever you ask for. When we checked in we paid for a late check out. . . when my sister checked in the next day they got complimentary late check out. I could go on and on. . . and we paid a lot of money because we stayed over the New Year. . . definitely worth avoiding.

Beautiful perfectly located on Bavaro Beach. Very clever canopy design, you'd have to pay attention to know that everything except the bedrooms are not enclosed. Bathrooms and food could be updated. Everything else just lovely..
