I’d stay away from this place. I was convinced to book it after reading a Condé Nast article recommending it, but I should have trusted my instincts and stayed at the new St. Regis instead. For the rates Eden Roc Cap Cana charges, you’d expect a true five-star experience. Unfortunately, that’s not what you get. The hotel feels outdated and poorly maintained, the food is mediocre (honestly comparable to what you’d expect at an all-inclusive, despite paying luxury hotel prices), and the service is shockingly bad. At breakfast alone, there seem to be plenty of servers standing around, yet only a handful actually attend to guests. Somehow, they consistently manage to get orders wrong while simultaneously trying to deliver other guests’ food to the wrong tables. Every single day. Our suite is spacious and comes with a private pool, but even that feels neglected. The pool has been dirty since our arrival, there’s old dog feces in the grass, bugs floating in the water, and used cigarette butts scattered around the landscaping that look like they’ve been there for quite some time. The hotel’s Instagram photos are also misleading. I expected a stunning beachfront property, but even the ocean is not what most people picture when they think of Punta Cana. In my opinion, this hotel is simply not worth the price. I still have 2 more nights and I’d honestly wish they’d refund my money so I could go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews carefully before booking.

I had an amazing stay at Eden Roc Cap Cana and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and treated us like family. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The food was one of the highlights of our trip. Every meal was absolutely delicious, and you can really tell they take pride in the quality and presentation. We looked forward to every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This place truly made our trip unforgettable, and I can’t wait to come back. I would highly recommend Eden Roc Cap Cana to anyone looking for a beautiful resort with amazing service and great food.

The property feels noticeably dated while still charging premium, five-star prices. In reality, it lands closer to a four-star experience at best. The contrast with the St. Regis next door - which genuinely delivers on a five-star standard - makes this even more obvious. While the food is very good and the villas are generously sized, the marketing imagery is misleading and sets expectations most rooms simply don’t meet. The beach is undeniably beautiful, and easily the standout part of the stay - we spent most of our time there for a reason.

We traveled from New York for a short vacation and booked a stay at what is presented as a five-star resort, reserving a One Bedroom Beachfront Suite at approximately $3,000 per night. Based on the official description, including “stunning beachfront terraces or balconies – the ambiance exudes an exclusive beachfront experience,” we expected a true direct beachfront view. Upon arrival, it became clear that the room was not truly beachfront. There is only a distant partial view of the ocean, while a front building and surrounding structures significantly block a direct, close view of the beach. The photos attached to this review accurately reflect the real view from the room. We immediately raised the concern. A manager, Julianne, visited the room, acknowledged that the view did not match the beachfront expectation, and explained that the resort was fully sold out, so no alternative room could be offered. After review, we were offered a $500 hotel credit, which does not reasonably reflect the very high nightly rate paid for a room marketed as beachfront. It is also important for future guests to understand the layout of the property. The resort includes villas, true beachfront rooms, and a small number of bungalows. While many rooms do offer beautiful views, some rooms—like the one we received—have significantly obstructed views that do not align with a beachfront category. At this price level, this distinction should be clear and transparent at the time of booking. At a genuine five-star resort, accuracy in room classification and meaningful service recovery are expected. Unfortunately, both the room representation and the handling of this situation fell short of five-star standards. Based on this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend this resort at this pricing level. The overall response reflected poor customer service and resulted in a one-star experience within what is marketed as a five-star property.

This hotel is definitely not a 5-star property, despite the prices they charge. The entire place feels outdated and badly in need of renovation. For what you pay, the value is extremely poor. Their social media manager deserves credit though — the Instagram account makes the hotel look far better than it actually is. In reality, the experience is completely different. The rooms are old and damp. When it rains, water literally comes through the windows. The wardrobes look like they were built from the cheapest possible materials. During our stay we even had a water damage incident in our room that caused several of our clothes to become discolored and ruined. We submitted receipts and contacted the hotel multiple times. Five months after our trip we still haven’t received an apology or any reimbursement for the damaged clothing. That is simply unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be 5-star. The staff is friendly, but clearly not trained to deliver 5-star service. Overall: massively overpriced, poorly maintained, and very disappointing. Stay away.
