We stayed at Dreams Dominicus La Romana for our honeymoon for 7 days, and it was an absolutely amazing experience 💛 The staff was extremely polite and always ready to help with any questions or requests. When they found out it was our honeymoon, they surprised us by decorating our door with a “Honeymoon” ribbon, and in our room we were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and fresh fruit , such a lovely touch! The beach is beyond praise. We have stayed here more than once already, and we just can’t get enough of it. No seaweed, soft white sand, and unbelievably beautiful, crystal-clear water. The Preferred Club bar was also excellent , great service and a very relaxing atmosphere. The food was always fresh and delicious, and the waiters were incredibly kind and attentive. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that, since we were celebrating our wedding, we expected some small gesture from the hotel, especially because this wasn’t our first stay here. We thought there might be a room upgrade, a complimentary dinner, spa access, or another special activity, as many hotels offer for special occasions. Unfortunately, nothing was offered to us. It didn’t ruin our stay, but it would have made our wedding trip feel even more special and memorable.

I chose this hotel for my wife and 16 and 14-year old because of 1) the dive and water sports site on the premises 2) the games room in case of bad weather (but in the end from 23/7/26 for 10 nights there wasn’t any bad weather) 3) more generally the extremely beautiful beach with a guaranteed absence of seaweed 4) the price point for our budget (we used a flight and hotel package from Loveholidays). I monitored reviews for a good 8 months and as is always the case due to people’s differing expectations, there were plenty of negative ones. However, this hotel exceeded my expectations. We ate everything. No food poisoning. The service was mostly fine. The location is beautiful. The hotel is attractively laid-out. The games room was great, though the pool tables do need a bit of refurbishing. The rooms were lovely. We requested a room in the quieter top third (nearest the reception) of the hotel. The hotel was busy but there are always areas- like around the relax pool- which are pretty quiet. Excessive noise was never an issue for us. You can avoid any queues at the restaurants if you go 6:30-7:00 or late- 9:00 to 10:00. There are plenty of fun excursions to do in and around the area. I thought the food was almost always delicious, as did my teenagers. Occasionally some things we tried weren’t, but if that’s the case, choose something else another time. I am not a fan of the Preferred system of upselling and if you can’t afford to upgrade, I wouldn’t worry. It is an expensive luxury. I did appreciate the benefits (like basing ourselves on the left hand side of the beach as you look at the sea and having a “butler” at the end of a WhatsApp message), but not at the price which was offered. But all in all, we had a wonderful time. For me, they drop a star because months before my trip, my e-mails requesting confirmation of my booking went unanswered and expensive phone calls led to me being passed from one staff member to the next before being cut off. They must do better with this.

The resort buildings and facilities are excellent. Very large white sandy beaches and lots of manicured grounds. It never feels crowded here anywhere anytime during my stay. The rooms are nice especially since I got the oceanfront suites. They were super nice and spacious. The biggest downside is the food. Even though there are many restaurants, like 8-9 different places, we couldn't get excited to go to any of them to eat the food as they barely served food you want to eat. We found Mare to be the best restaurant. So for those who are going there mainly for the nice beaches and pools, and the facilities for kids, I think this is a great place. But if having good food is important to you, this place is not a great choice, but I also heard that generally DR hotels didn't have very good food. The staff are all super nice and want to please but there is a strong language barrier if you don't speak Spanish and only speak English. We are a group of 8 and spent a week here.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We spent our annual family vacation while celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary at Dreams Dominicus La Romana from June 26 to July 3, 2026, and we had an amazing time! The resort is beautiful, with a stunning beach, crystal-clear water, well-maintained grounds, lovely pools, and friendly staff who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we created many wonderful memories with our family. Since we were celebrating such a special milestone, we were a little disappointed that our arrival didn't include the warm towel and welcome drink that many guests mention. We had also hoped for a small anniversary gesture, such as a note, room decoration, or a complimentary fruit basket, chocolates, or a bottle of wine, but unfortunately our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. That said, this small disappointment did not take away from what was otherwise a fantastic vacation. We truly appreciate the hospitality of the staff and the beautiful surroundings that made our family vacation and anniversary celebration so memorable. Thank you to everyone at Dreams Dominicus La Romana for a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning in the future!

This hotel..? Excellent! But the absolute best part was the personal concierge, Merihan Guerrero! She contacted us right after our checkout. She was polite, responsive, informative and assisted every single way she could. Do yourself a favor; if you come to this resort, please ask for Merihan. You will not regret it. Other staff members are just as amazing. The food is great. It helps that you don’t need to make reservations for restaurants. Love every single bar on the property. 10/10 resort! Will come back.
