For the most part the service was average. A few people stood out with exceptional service. Manuela, a server at Aphrodite and the Mansion is a lovely woman and willing to get whatever we want. Victor, at the pool, is extremely attentive to our needs, putting up the umbrella and moving it around. Our butler, Eric, has come a long way since we first had him. He has matured into an excellent butler and is excellent in taking care of all our needs. Edilberto moves around Aphrodite helping everyone and making sure they are happy. And, Hector, even though he is not our butler, is always there for us.

Desires Riviera Maya is pure magic. The location is absolutely gorgeous—tropical, sexy, and perfectly set for letting loose. The resort is fun, vibrant, and knows exactly how to deliver a good time. The staff is next-level amazing and makes you feel spoiled from the moment you arrive. And our butler LeFranc? Unreal. He took incredible care of us, anticipated everything we needed, and made our stay unforgettable. Truly the best of the best. We’re already counting down until we come back.

We had an incredible time at this resort. The playmakers (Candice, Matias, JJ, Abby, Kia, Jessica, Tristan & Omar) are what makes the resort stand high above all other all-inclusive resorts. If we let them, the play makers help us out of our introverted ways and get us into a healthy party mode. We started each day with Yoga, then volleyball, water polo, and water zumba. Matias was always finding ways to teach us how to dance and feel free to express ourselves to music. Candice could rock our world with her singing voice and personable demeanor. Jess, JJ and Tristan added competitive levels to our sports and competition always bringing a little sibling rivalry to activities. Abby’s bubbly personality never stopped making the baby-sister a fun add-on to every occasion. I can afford any resort, but having Play Makers keeping us entertained morning, noon and night sets this resort above most others. Lastly, Omar, DJ extraordinaire, with his taste in music and hilarious sense of humor provided a cornerstone to the Play Makers antics that should never be forgotten. Mani, “El Jeffe” as we called him, has built an incredible team and even took the time to party and lose to my wife in volleyball. The evening entertainment was about standard for Cancun (4 of 5 stars), but even then the Play Makers getting us dancing all night long pushed evenings into exceptional (6 of 5 stars). We loved it here for 9 days and I was able to truly decompress and spend time with like minded individuals whom became fast friends.

We spent 2 nights at Desire Pearl Riviera Maya in an Oceanview Room. I’m not going to mince words here; this is a lifestyle resort brand (aka these are swingers resorts). I can comment on the room quality and the views and pool or dining but ultimately none of that matters because there is only one major reason why anyone goes to these resorts and it’s for the lifestyle and the rest of the features and amenities are really irrelevant. At Pearl which is where we stayed, I will say in general the rooms are only ok (our room was super sparce and the bed is hard as a rock), the dining is fine and a bit limited (only 3 restaurants), the beach is terrible and essentially unswimmable, the pool is fine but nothing too elaborate, the hot tub is enormous and nice (and the hub of most of the lifestyle action), the entertainment is really wonderful here and the playmakers (the employees) are EXCEPTIONAL. They do have some services that are unique (couples massages with extra services, private entertainment etc.), that were priced pretty high but according to guests were exceptional, I can’t comment because we did not experience them. The best part of this resort is the employees and the service; they are super attentive and it’s clear that they take a lot of pride in what they do. A few examples, they decorated our room for my husband’s birthday, they knew our names (all of them literally), there was always someone around offering to help. Other things I will share that are relevant. First of all, it is possible to visit and enjoy this resort if you are not part of the lifestyle, but you have to be comfortable being in proximity to the lifestyle. My husband and I are not swingers, we enjoy nude resorts/beaches and sexually charged experiences but do not practice that lifestyle in any other capacity, but we are pretty open to being in proximity to it. If your main desire is to visit a nude resort, this resort brand might not be for you. Nudity is allowed but it’s not enforced like at other nude resorts. Also, if you are not comfortable being around the lifestyle (even if you don’t practice it) this resort is not for you. While you might not see a lot of nude people you will see a lot of PDA, especially in January. Normally “having fun in public” is reserved for the hot tub and the playrooms but in January, which is lifestyle month, its permitted anywhere in the resort other than the restaurants, and several guests took full advantage of this. Secondly, this resort brand heavily favors memberships, unfortunately, non-members are slightly 2nd class citizens here, you can’t make dining/experience reservations and the parts of the resort that are super desirable (the “nice” playrooms) are only accessible if you are a member or you book a certain room category (or if you make friends with someone who falls in those categories). Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The service and employees are the standouts here and we met some super nice and interesting people.

This was our first time at a resort like this. Although they are not set up for Thrupples they made every effort to make it work for us. The food is phenomenal and always fresh. The hostess May is very kind and speaks very good English and allowed me to practice my bad Spanish with her every day at breakfast. The selection of bourbon is great. The staff is lovely and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms are nice and comfortable and very clean. We will definitely be returning for another visit.
