The fives ocean front Puerto Morelos is almost perfect ..... First the service and staff are outstanding. Mariel, Diego, Rodrigo, and stepheny in Marley's kitchen were fantastic. The exterior facilities pools beaches restaurants gym bars are all top notch. The hotel is a small boutique but has more than enough activities for everyone two beautiful clean pools. A beach that has nets and a crew to clean the seaweed that is invading much of the Caribbean. The beach does have biting ants and their are mosquitos so bring bug spray. Otherwise Plenty of cabanas and chairs and great service . The food at Marley's was great. Drinks were weak but they are usually dealing with all inclusive crowd so that's not a surprise. Spa was great with incredible massages. and we even enjoyed a sound bath meditation something I've never done. Everything was priced well not cheap but not expensive The problem is the rooms. We stayed in room 510. Ocean view suite with balcony and jetted tub. While pretty on the outside and at first glance some details underwhelm and undermine the 5 star aspirations a faint smell of mildew throughout the property and hallways, poor paint jobs on finishes, cheap materials on closets, linens with holes including on blankets and day beds on the balcony. Balcony Jacuzzi needed it's jets cleaned, but also being slow to warm and with weak pressure and painted over controls. We had to have our air conditioner worked on 3x and our room was never cool. Our sliding door to the balcony handle broke and it jammed open unable to close letting in mosquitos and heat. Maintenance did respond quickly. So in short a fantastic hotel with one glaring issue room maintainince. Room cleanliness was excellent and the staff cleaning dona great job. Lastly the town of Puerto Morelos is amazing quaint filled with locals and a far cry from Cancun. Must trys are Puerto Knaa, pirata, and the speakeasy

I had the most wonderful massage with Noe today. I’m extremely picky about massage and his was the best I have ever had, by far. He made me really comfortable, the pressure I had asked to be firm was just that, firm without being too hard. There was gentleness in his movements at the same time. The room was quiet and peaceful, and he offered me a cup of herbal tea in the relaxing room afterwards. If you need a great massage, this is the place to be and the masseur to ask for! Thank you Noe

I cannot recommend this place enough! First off upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the staff at The 5’s Oceanfront and it was the start to a great relaxing trip. Shortly after we met an amazing staff member named Erica. She was part of the team that helps you lay out your schedule for the time that you are a guest there. She helped us book excursions and was there 24/7 our entire trip to help us have a customized stay to our liking. She gave us many recommendations for things like secluded beaches, places in Puerto Morelos for good food outside of the resort, places to shop, ect. the list goes on and on. I cannot say enough praise that will capture how much help she was for our wonderful anniversary trip. Everything was top notch at the 5’s. We rented a car in Cancun and it was extremely easy each day to have them grab our car out of valet. We loved that we were able to have a car there and were not charged a fee for having it there on sight. Surprisingly we pretty much had the place to ourselves. There were always so many beach chairs on the beach to lay out in and the pool hardly ever had people in it. They have an adult only rooftop pool that had the most stunning views as well. Both of the pools are beautiful infinity pools with picture perfect views. Our room and everything on the grounds was amazingly beautiful. The staff went above and beyond daily. I cannot say enough good stuff about this place and the staff. We are big world travelers and my husband even had two specific dinner items that he said were top 5 ever for that specific food item, (the lasagna and the ossobuco). All the food was extremely good, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was so nice having all food and drinks be unlimited, as we didn’t have to worry about the bill at the end of each bar run, coffee run, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert run. The town for shopping was a quick 10 minute walk by beach or road. The entire trip we felt completely safe, as there were national guards all over the place in town, which made us feel safe. My husband and I are not usually resort people, but we would stay at The 5’s Oceanfront again 100%. The 5’s Oceanfront in Puerto Morelos was such a wonderful little hidden gem in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. We will definitely be back!

Set in a beautiful, sleepy beach town with no high rises, the location felt incredibly intimate and special. Beautiful, clean resort that still feels intimate and boutique despite having plenty of space, pools, and bars. The only downside was check-in — it took a few hours and there was a pretty aggressive vacation program sales pitch when we really just wanted to get changed after traveling. The service completely made the experience though. Christian was honestly the highlight of the trip — incredibly attentive, friendly, and always on top of everything before we even had to ask. Huge shoutout to Elvis, Giovanni, Rodrigo, Ian, Felix, and the spa team (Noe and Mary) as well for being so welcoming and making everything feel easy and relaxing. We never had to wait long for drinks or service anywhere.

First, let me say that this is a lovely hotel and Puerto Morelos is wonderful (in spite of the bad sargassum this year). In general, The Fives is well maintained with great facilities and friendly staff. We took the breakfast only option which was a good choice for us and once we had the menu figured out, ate well enough. However, the wait staff and kitchen staff are somehow not used to Canadian conventions (even though CDN and US expats are the majority of their clients) and we ran into all sorts of issues ranging from eggs in a box, no salt or pepper on the tables, to cold coffee and tea water, to real eggs being horribly underdone (sent back twice), asking for cream and not getting it etc. Ordered some shrimp tacos for lunch at the rooftop restaurant and they arrived battered and UNPEELED! Needless to say, after spitting out shell, I sent them back. That being said, the burgers were very good, and I ordered a side of Arrichera every morning which was excellent. HERE'S THE WARNING - there are hidden daily environmental fees, and your room credit is COUPON BASED only! Let me explain. When I booked the hotel, I was given a $555 USD "resort credit" and a "free" snorkel tour (apparent $60 USD value that ended up being listed for $40 + you have to pay the $8US park fee). My wife and I booked a few massages and a couple of hydrotherapy sessions (yes, they have a sauna and steam room and plunge pools but its 859 pesos additional for each session and the massages are 2400 pesos for 50 minute rub down ($300 CDN!) thinking I would simply apply my credit to the sessions. But no, that's not how it works. The resort credit is divided into a series of coupons - 4 x $50 USD for spa, a couple of $15 ones for Bali beds and the rest $15 for "premium wine". Nobody told us about this when we checked in or when we booked - we were not given this page of coupons, nobody mentioned coupons when we booked our massages so imagine my surprise when I was charged full price for everything. So much for the $555 credit - its NOT A CREDIT! They would only apply coupons to 2 of 3 massages (the third was discounted for early booking but still less of a deduct than the coupon) and I was not allowed to apply them to the hydrotherapy sessions at all. So my $555 credit ended up being $100 only against outrageously priced services, which, had I known, I would never have purchased. You can get a great massage on the beach for a 10th of what they were charging. Big lesson learned for me - not that it was going to break the bank, but I felt like I was being taken advantage of and it was embarrassing to have to argue over these charges. So - fair warning - its a lovely hotel - great pools, incredible location but beware of the credits as they cannot be universally applied. One last thing - We booked a Junior suite which has a full kitchen as I like to make the odd meal and have snacks and stuff and they charged us 500 pesos to rent plates, pots, pans and utensils! So, just typical of the nickel and diming shit that was going and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe we'll go back (my wife loved the place) but I feel we could do better. At least now I know - and you do to.
