It was disappointing to experience the receptionist’s attitude. This will be our first and last stay at this hotel. I’m relieved that my family and I, who traveled from abroad, only had to stay here for two nights. The receptionist, Kat, who checked us in last night, seemed as if she was having a bad day. We simply asked for parking recommendations, and her response—and overall attitude—was unacceptable. We travel often, and this is one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve had. I would strongly recommend that others avoid staying here. A front desk receptionist plays an important role in creating a friendly and welcoming environment. We had more questions, but we were afraid to ask because we didn’t want to make our stay even more uncomfortable. The lobby is nice, but the rooms need renovation. Our bathroom door is coming apart, and the temperature control unit is also falling apart. The cleaner did a great job by leaving their trash bag with the dirty gloves in the room as well.. 🙄

I checked into the empire hotel on 11/12 with my 4 daughters. We were placed in room 315 at a dimly lit hall, with a card key that required several attempts to work. The room was ice cold because the heater was broken in NYC in November. We were told it couldn’t be fixed and were provided with inadequate, hazardous space heaters, in a “4 star” hotel. The shower tiles were chipped and when my daughter attempted to shower a piece of the handle broke, making the shower inoperable. The manager Maggie, said she’d provide us with another room. We had plans for the day and the front desk told us to pack up, leave our stuff on the bed and the bellman would move it all to the new room at 2-3pm. Got back at 7pm, only to find our things left in the old room with no new room assigned. They moved us to room 715, the night manager personally walked me up there, only to discover another ice cold heatless room, with a screeching toliet(that I fixed myself). It took over an hour for a maintenance man to show up and say the heat can’t be fixed it’s now 9:36pm over 2hrs later and we’ve been freezing in the room with coats on. This isn’t the service, room or amenities that I paid for. Stay away! EDIT: they brought us new space heaters, that tripped the circuit so now we are in the dark with no heat

At first, I was ecstatic to book and stay and surprise my girlfriend/partner for her birthday at The Empire Hotel. So I booked the romantic package, which was supposed to include room decorations with flower petals, champagne, rooftop vouchers and sweets. I specifically chose this package for my girlfriend’s birthday—the room décor was very important to me as I wanted to surprise her. I even confirmed with the front desk staff at check-in that everything would be prepared. However, when we arrived, there were no decorations at all. Instead, we only received robes, sleep accessories, rooftop vouchers and a bottle of wine. There was no effort or special touch as promised, which was disappointing considering I paid extra for this package. I mentioned the missing decorations to one of the staff members, but the concern was brushed off. Overall, I’m very dissatisfied with the experience. This was meant to be a memorable and romantic night, but it fell far short of what was expected and advertised.

I liked only location and staff were nice. What is negative: 1- room is small with no place to put your clothes only hang some over the safe. 2- the shower was blocked so water hardly went away each time you have shower you just stay in this water 3- bed is very small it says queen but it is full bed size judged by its size. For two people you feel as sardines. Pillow uncomfortable and they have only one type that’s it. 4- no kettle in the room, not even complimentary water in the mini fridge. 5- Very loud !!!!! air conditioner and room was very hot looks like it did not work properly 6- corridors were dark you cannot see even handle. Keys work each 2-3 times. Mostly does not 7- very old outdated rooms 8- blinds broken 9-no breakfast in the hotel 10- old bathroom not with the glass but with the curtain !!!!! Toilet 🚽 space very narrow and small. Towels smelled “funny” And restroom of the hotel was out of service belive that?! Really that what you get in manhattan for this price! I cannot say it is cheap. I was staying in hotels in London Paris Madrid Barcelona Rome Milan in downtown and never have such a horrible room. Do not recommend at all!

Empire did not disappoint - the location was absolutely perfect with lots of restaurants, transit and shopping nearby. This is an older hotel so the rooms are a little smaller, but well equipped. Our first room was dark - facing inward- new room bright and overlooked the little park! Cool retro lobby! The staff was super friendly and efficient and the highlight was the rooftop bar with the fantastic views from both levels and the famous neon sign! When you step outside, you can see the trees of Central Park!
