We stayed at The New Yorker Hotel for two nights. While the location is absolutely fantastic for getting around NYC, the actual room experience left a lot to be desired. If you are looking for a comfortable place to relax, you might want to consider other options. The good is an unbeatable location. If your primary goal is convenience, this hotel delivers. It serves as a great, central base camp for exploring the city, with easy access to transit and major attractions. The bad, cramped space & missing amenities. The room itself was incredibly disappointing when it came to size and basic features: Zero Elbow Room: The rooms are exceptionally small. After we put our luggage down, we barely had enough room to move around. It felt tight and restrictive. There is no mini-fridge in the room, which makes it impossible to keep drinks cold or store quick snacks. The bathroom layout and plumbing caused a lot of frustration during our stay. The water pressure in the sink was intensely hard, but because the sink didn’t drain properly, the water backed up instantly. It resulted in water splashing everywhere, turning the bathroom into a total mess. The Verdict: If you only care about a good location and literally just need a bed to sleep in, this place is fine. But if you value room comfort, functional plumbing, and space to breathe, keep looking.

I would not recommend to stay at this hotel at all unless it’s for location. The service sucks at the front desk and there’s no parking garage in the hotel. We had to park down the block and get a ticket and still charged us $60 a night that was the discount. The actual price was $68 to park your car there for staying at the hotel. Also, we have 5 to 8 bags each, and there was no person to help us carry it to our room because we got there a little bit after midnight. The room was a very small box and after all the money you pay, you do not have a mini refrigerator or microwave unless you pay $25 extra to have. There wasn’t even hand soap to wash your hands. This place was only good for to walk in distance to Times Square. It’s very loud at night all you hear is ambulance sirens all night. The windows are filthy. You can’t even see outside. It’s like they’re never clean. For being such a big hotel, they have no restaurants but a TikTok restaurant that the chairman doesn’t even eat there because he thinks the food is nasty and there is no pool either.

Ideally located in Midtown and opposite Penn Station, this is one of New York's iconic buildings and a great place to stay. Very comfortable and spacious room, well maintained and with a great outlook onto the city. Friendly staff. The Tick Tock Diner on the ground floor is a must for breakfast, as you watch the bustle outside. The Banker & Butcher steakhouse in the former basement vault is quirky and serves great dishes, but can be expensive. The Trattoria Bianca on the ground floor offers tasty, mid-priced dishes.

We had a lovely time in NYC. Hotel is in a great location, right next to Penn station, madison square gardens and 10 min walk to Times Square. We had a nice room, albeit small and a bit dated, but with a view to die for. We had a little issue with the room, as it was a bit noisy, and that issue was sorted within 30 minutes and we were given a new room. That’s great service. Shout out to the person responsible for that, we didn’t get his name, I believe he was the manager in charge of customer experience (?). Room cleanliness was decent. Security team was friendly. Things that could be improved: little small touches like a few complimentary bottles of water on arrival would be nice. Bit unnecessary to pay fee to store luggage, as never experienced such thing, either in great hotels or more modest ones (5 dollar per item). All in all, it’s all about location and comfort , location was great, bed was comfy, bathrooms could have been more modern but they did the job, the only issue we encountered was resolved promptly. View was pretty magical. All in all, we had a great time in NYC and this hotel was a nice choice. Loads of restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

Check in was generally okay, long queue but it was as expected. Room was mediocre but we were out all day, therefore had no real issues. However the issues started after our trip had ended. Upon arrival you have to pay a security deposit for the room, standard procedure I am aware. We travelled from the UK as did many people. We paid 137 pounds as a security deposit, and when leaving were informed that we would be refunded 8-10 days after departure. This was not the case. After 2 months I informed my bank, they stated that they could see the transaction - however they had no released the funds on their end. It is now June 8th of time of writing this - I have finally received the money back - 5 months later after leaving. Incredibly poor experience, the helpline refuse to help regarding any sort of payment issues. Diabolical. NYC is beautiful and the hotel definitely does the job well enough. But this ordeal completely ruined my thoughts on this hotel.
