A really lovely resort, located just at 10-min drive from the airport, but right on the most beautiful beach on the island. It has all the amenities you may expect from a 5-star resort, with few restaurants and bars, two pools, a kid's playground. The reception hall is rather impressive. For breakfast they serve the Asian style in one and then the Western style in another restaurant, but you can go to both and mix your food. The beach is quite nice with white soft sand and a number of bars along the beach. I would just expect more toiletries in the bathroon considering it is a 5-star property like a sewing kit, cotton pads, a shoe polish kit etc. The service could improve though. We were a group and our rooms should have been ready for us to check in by 3pm, but some of us waited till 4pm. One of the ladies in our group got stuck on the balcony as the door closed behind her and couldn't enter the room. Luckily, she had a mobile phone and even though she made frequent calls to the reception, nobody appeared for over an hour until her husband came and opened the door. That is unacceptable for any accommodation, much less for a 5-star property. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone who is coming to Langkawi.

Pelangi Beach Resort is not suitable for families with young children, especially babies. Despite being marketed as a resort, basic standards for child safety and hygiene were not upheld during my stay. The children’s swimming pool was poorly monitored, allowing adults to smoke and consume alcohol in and around the pool. This is completely unacceptable in an area meant for children. Having stayed in many international high-end hotels, I have never encountered such negligence toward children’s safety. The main swimming pool is located directly beside a bar, where food and alcoholic drinks are allowed inside the pool. Food and drink spillages were evident, making the pool unhygienic and unpleasant. I paid a premium price expecting a clean and well-maintained swimming environment, not a pool that felt contaminated by food, cigars, and alcohol. Additionally, my room faced the lake, where numerous beer cans and alcoholic drink containers were visibly accumulated. This reflected a serious lack of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. If hygiene, safety, and a child-friendly environment matter to you, this hotel should be avoided. I will not be returning.

We desperately needed an escape this Christmas as our adult son died during the summer. How far away could we get from London - Langkawi? We chose a resort as this would take a lot of the stress out of traveling- we didn’t have the capacity for touring or deciding on meals etc. Boy did we make the right choice. The capacious rooms in small chalet clusters mean that you aren’t surrounded by others. The enormous land area means that there has always been a seat or lounger by the pools or by the beach. Two very spacious restaurants mean that even at its peak breakfast isn’t cramped or empty of food. The staff are so friendly. Marissa met us with a smile and showed us the amenities and the location of them with reference to our lake view room - we were a bit late in booking and all beach view rooms were booked - next time! We used the spa for an aromatherapy massage and were poured out of there after 60 minutes - Not sure how we’d have walked back if we’d chosen the 90 minute option - no fear a buggy could have dropped us to our door if necessary. In the area there are lots of super eating places for lunch or dinner if the restaurants don’t appeal for every night. We are half way through and I know we will be back; it really is a piece of paradise and a huge tonic for the most horrific six months that we have ever faced. A beautiful place; I cannot recommend it more highly - bliss!
Water Rock Bungalow
Delightful 2 night stay here in January. Nice location, easy access to the beach. 2 pools, a spa, 2 pickleball courts, 2 tennis courts and a small petting farm for the kids. The only minor drawback was the distance from the villas to the lobby and buggies were always delayed (but that is expected in such vast resorts) . 2 restaurants with buffet breakfast (continental & asian) but slightly disappointing spread for a resort of this magnitude.

We have had a really lovely family vacation here at Pelangi. Rooms are nice and spacious, beautiful setting. Great location and very close to the airport (no disruption). Lots to do on the beach and adjacent strip day and night. Pools are nice and everything is clean and seemed well maintained. Staff are helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the food isn’t the best, lots of other guests have said the same. If this was improved from a 2.5 or 3 out of 5, which it currently is, then the Pelangi would be a true 5 star destination. Currently I think it’s closer to a 4.
