We had a wonderful experience at the hotel. Special thanks to Miss Anne (Front Office), who attended to us during check-in. She was warm, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. We would also like to commend all the staff, from the Concierge team to the restaurant staff, for their excellent service and hospitality throughout our stay. Besides the outstanding service, the room was cozy, spacious, and comfortable. What truly made our stay special was the beautiful rainforest environment surrounding the property. We enjoyed waking up to the fresh air, lush greenery, and soothing sounds of nature. The rainforest was also filled with beautiful tropical plants and towering trees, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting everywhere we walked. The natural surroundings provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing us to relax and reconnect with nature. The combination of exceptional hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and the stunning rainforest atmosphere made our stay truly unforgettable. We created many wonderful memories during our visit and will definitely return again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing nature retreat with excellent service and facilities! ❤️

The Datai Langkawi is one of the most extraordinary places our family has ever stayed. Nestled within one of the world’s oldest rainforests, it offers a rare sense of peace, beauty and connection with nature. The culinary experience was exceptional, with a wonderful variety of restaurants, each offering its own unique atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. Every meal was beautifully prepared using the freshest ingredients, while the breakfasts were among the best we’ve ever had an incredible spread with something for everyone and a highlight of each morning. What truly set The Datai apart, however, was its people. Every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable, treating us with genuine warmth and kindness. Their thoughtfulness was extraordinary; even after we had left, a member of the team drove all the way to the airport to deliver my husband’s Apple Watch charger that we’d accidentally left behind. It’s this level of care and attention that makes The Datai so special. Surrounded by breathtaking rainforest, incredible wildlife and outstanding hospitality, it gave our family memories that we will treasure for a lifetime.

Memories left with great hospitality & excellent facilities. It's The People who makes this place wonderful. Their job nothing less than fulfilling every single request & makes guest happy. Thank you to Mr Jaya, Ms Izzati for checking us in & all Datai crews. Keep up the good work & I'm proud we had such hospitality levelled with other famous luxury resorts in Asia. Facilities are well-maintained with the high-quality woods, surrounded with rich flora & fauna. We spotted hornbill when we were on the room balcony which was brilliant! Little thing to be improved was housekeeping team in making it seamless & smooth, especially with us having baby on board. Turn-down service could be done much earlier rather than 8.30pm, housekeeping/turn-down job could be done when guest was out for breakfast/lunch/dinner, so it's all ready when we are back. This could be achieved by a good communication between concierge & housekeeping team which we have experienced it in some other places. Standards of housekeeping can be improved too, first day water bottles was placed on bedside with a set of tv remote on the bed which was excellent, second day it wasn't. A thrash of empty cracker was on the poolside table since day 1 till we checked out, housekeeper would need to put more effort on the balcony too. Nevertheless, it wasn't a big deal for us & I'd still be coming back to this place soon!

My family and I had the privilege of staying at The Datai for four nights. From the moment of arrival, announced by the resonant gong, guests are transported into a rainforest teeming with life, where every member of staff is dedicated to ensuring an exceptional stay. The frog pond, the butterfly walk, and the hornbills at breakfast... meeting various creatures is not guaranteed, but guests will undoubtedly leave with some memorable encounters. **The Positives** *1. The Staff* At times, the level of service brings to mind a Bond film set on a secluded island resort: every member of staff seemingly attuned to your presence, in the best possible sense. All staff were amicable, engaging, and attentive to every need. After a few days, those we interacted with most frequently remembered us by name and room number, which made the stay considerably more comfortable. While I did not note every name, particular thanks go to our fairly regular buggy driver, Ashikur Rahman , for his consistent warmth and friendliness. *2. The Hotel Itself* Set within a 10-million-year-old rainforest, the property is immersed in nature - a lizard may appear on your window in the evening, or monkeys by the pool in the morning. The rooms are spacious and well maintained, with the signature Datai scent throughout (we purchased the essential oil from the boutique, as it left such an impression). The hotel offers a range of experiences, including guided forest walks, workshops, bird spotting, and a superb spa (3-hour spa package was sensational!), many of which carry an additional charge (addressed further below). The property feels less like a conventional hotel and more like a secluded retreat, given its distance from other amenities. We rented a car, which made journeys to nearby areas take approximately 40–50 minutes; the drives themselves were scenic and enjoyable. Breakfast at the main Dining Room was excellent. There were freshly made juices, rotis, eggs, and a variety of meats. We typically arrived by 7:30am and, contrary to some other reviews, rarely encountered queues. *3. The Beach* Fine sand, a long stretch of shoreline, water sports, a nearby pool, and a clean, quiet setting; postcard-perfect in every respect. *4. Attention to Detail* Highlights included the tea and sweets awaiting arrival, the resort map, and the chilled, scented towels provided both on arrival and in-room. Daily touches included restocked mini-fridge drinks, fresh fruit deliveries, and evening chocolates, alongside a concierge readily available to assist with any request. Excursions and experiences were arranged efficiently. Throughout the stay, we felt as though we were the hotel's sole guests, in the most positive sense. **Areas for Improvement/TBA** *1. In-house Pricing* While I understand that certain in-house experiences such as smaller group workshops require payment, the hotel's overall pricing is notably high. Charging UK/European rates feels somewhat at odds with standard Malaysian pricing elsewhere. For example, an excursion to the Kilim Geoforest mangroves costs roughly three times as much when booked through the hotel's known provider, compared to arranging it independently and a difference not fully justified by the transport provided. The hotel effectively holds a monopoly over the surrounding area, with the nearest alternative amenities a 20–25 minute drive away. As a result, the hotel's restaurants, while serving excellent food, charge prices in excess of higher-end UK levels; even a modest grilled chicken wrap, for instance, was priced at ~£18. *2. Lifeguard Provision* The resort welcomes a considerable number of families with children. Given the potential for sudden volatile weather in Langkawi, the presence of a lifeguard during designated hours would be a valuable addition. None was present during our stay. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These two points should not detract from what was otherwise the most exceptional hotel and holiday experience of my life. It was genuinely remarkable at times, and I fully intend to return in the near future.

Visiting The Datai is a very special experience. From the minute you step into the hotel you are looked after. The rooms are super comfy and very well equipped and cleaned to the highest standards. There are several restaurants with the Beach Club offering lovely views in the evening as sun sets. During the day you can sit on the beach, lovely sandy beaches and you can walk along the bay. There are activities that you can do. We did the Bird watching tour, walk through the jungle and kayaking into the mangrove. During the day we had some lovely fresh fruit beautifully prepared on skewers and handed out down the beach, afternoon saw some ice cream and miniature cocktails in shot glasses. Please note that there are no shops or restaurants near-by to walk too but who needs that when you have wonderful wildlife and scenery to explore in the the hotel itself. I forgot to mention breakfast! Oh my what a feast with lots of variety offered. The best bit was the Salted caramel croissants.......very yummy. I had an absolutely fantastic holiday there. Thankyou Datai for such a memorable holiday for myself and my husband.
