Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun

Just finished a 7 night trip to Margaritaville Riviera Cancun ( not the adult only sister property). We had a two bedroom swim up suite with 2 adults and 3 children, and we LOVED it ! The rooms were fantastic, as a party of five we had plenty of space and as an added bonus the walk to the beach took all of 3 minutes from the room. Compared to other resorts in the area it was small but honestly I loved that it was so easily walkable to everything on site. And with it being smaller the resort never felt crowded, there was never a wait for dining and we were always able to fine lounge chairs by the pools. Onto my favorite part, the service and the staff. Let me say that we had all good interactions, from the wait staff, to the room attendants and even the grounds staff. Hands down a really fabulous staff here, and again because of the size of the resort you ran into the same staff multiple times a day. Miss Esther and Antonio from the Beach House restaurant were charming and really kind to our kids. Norma and Reina from the spa staff took excellent care of my girls with their mani/ pedi day. Jose was our room attendant for the entire week and did suck a wonderful job of keeping the rooms looking excellent. Marcos was our personal concierge and took care of any requests we had and made sure to check in daily to see if there was anything else we needed. And Miss Tana that does the morning activities by the Blended bar, thank you for your patience with my kids, they loved getting to paint and make bead bracelets with you! This was our first trip to this Margaritaville and we are already planning on a second visit by the end of this year, I’d definitely say for our family it was a 10 out of 10 .

I never imagined I would leave a vacation writing a review like this. My partner and I chose Margaritaville Riviera Maya Adults Only because we were looking for a relaxing, all-inclusive escape where we could celebrate, unwind, and simply exist without feeling judged. Instead, we left feeling hurt, exhausted, and deeply disappointed. From the moment we arrived, this resort failed to deliver the experience it advertises. One of the biggest disappointments was learning there was no swimmable beach, something that was not made clear when booking. If you’re expecting the classic Riviera Maya beach vacation, you won’t find it here. The food was another major letdown. What’s the point of paying for an all-inclusive resort if there’s rarely anything available to eat? Restaurants frequently had limited menus, unavailable items, or long waits. More than once, my partner and I went to bed hungry because there simply wasn’t anything available. That should never happen at an all-inclusive resort. What hurt even more than the food was how we were treated. I was repeatedly misgendered by staff, even after correcting them. Being respected for who you are isn’t a special request … it’s the bare minimum. By the end of our stay, we couldn’t help but feel that we were being treated differently. As a couple, that feeling was heartbreaking. We genuinely tried to give this resort every opportunity to improve our experience. We stayed patient, extended grace, and hoped each day would be better. Instead, we were met with inconsistent service, dismissive attitudes, and an experience that fell further and further below what was promised. By our last day, the emotional toll of everything had caught up with us. My partner and I left in tears. No vacation should end that way. The only people who made us feel seen and genuinely cared for were Ross and Carolina. They treated us with kindness, professionalism, and the level of hospitality we wish we had experienced throughout our stay. They deserve recognition because they were the exception, not the rule. This resort has beautiful grounds, but beautiful buildings don’t make up for poor hospitality, disappointing food, and making guests feel unwelcome. We came expecting a memorable vacation. We left with memories we’d rather forget.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this spa. I did the hydrotherapy session followed b1 hour then 55 minute deep tissue massage, and honestly, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The massage was incredible I have never experienced this level of skill, care, and professionalism before. The service was exceptional from the very first second until the very last minute. Everyone made me feel relaxed, welcomed, and truly taken care of. Everything was perfect, and I left feeling completely refreshed and renewed. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend this spa to anyone looking for an exceptional experience.

Lovely week at Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún! The resort was clean, comfortable, and serene. We loved our swim-up suite, and would book this room again! Our butler, Alberto, made sure we had a great week, not only checking in on our needs, but ensuring we had dinner plans each night. Alberto went the extra mile and helped decorate our room for a birthday celebration. We also appreciated the art/craft activities for families and the drop-off kids club led by Tanya and Landy. Be sure to arrange for premium cuts like the tomahawk or porterhouse (well worth extra cost) for the best meal of your vacation! Everyone we engaged with provided excellent service, and we would definitely return in the future.

I really wish the front desk staff had been as friendly and welcoming as the rest of the employees throughout the resort. After reading so many positive reviews before booking, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, our stay started off on the wrong foot at check-in. I had booked a two-queen swim-up room months in advance, but upon arrival we were told we would be staying in a king room with a pull-out sofa instead. No one contacted us beforehand to let us know about this change or offered any explanation until we arrived. The front desk staff was consistently rude and unhelpful. Throughout our five-night stay, we had daily issues with our wristbands, requiring us to return to the front desk multiple times. It was frustrating and incredibly inconvenient. The room also fell short of expectations. Several days we had to request fresh towels because housekeeping left used ones behind, and our shower was missing shampoo and conditioner. To make matters worse, we were repeatedly hit with unexpected fees, even when the changes were the result of the resort's mistakes. The food was another major disappointment. We found the quality to be poor, especially compared to other all-inclusive resorts we've visited. The only bright spots of our stay were the bartender at the middle pool and the primary servers in the restaurants. They were genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. They were the highlight of an otherwise disappointing vacation. Sadly, this was not the experience we expected, and because of it, we will not be staying at another Margaritaville resort. If you're visiting Cancun, I highly recommend the Hilton resort instead. We should have stuck with the resort we know and trust.
