Pleasantly surprised by standard of this hotel. Location great for old town but beach is only 10 mins walk away. Service excellent from all staff - very polite and efficient. Rooms spacious, clean and modern. Balcony small with 2 chairs and small table (room 710-slightly on corner of building) - no clothes rack but saw other rooms had them-not a major issue. Food at breakfast plentiful, well cooked and presented in spacious dining room and separate covered patio, where smoking is allowed. Rooftop bar with lovely views, lovely pool area with plenty of loungers and Bali beds. Daytime music sometimes - had a DJ one day and a singer another. Good value for money too.

We stayed in mid may and had a wonderful time. The staff are amazing, especially the cleaning staff. Very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean. The balcony is a tad small but very useable. Pool area clean and inviting. With a stylish pool bar. Bar food is reasonably priced. The hotel it's self is in a perfect spot to visit restaurants and shops. Small shop next door for any bits you have forgotten. And I can't forget the view from the sky bar. Thank you to all at hotel Costa Málaga. We will be back

Customer service was appalling. An item of immense sentimental value was removed from my room while it was being cleaned. I had owned this item for over 20 years, and its loss completely overshadowed and ruined my holiday. What was most disappointing was the hotel's lack of effort in investigating what happened. I reported the issue immediately and asked for the contact details of the laundry service on the Wednesday the item went missing. Despite repeated requests and considerable arguing, I was not given those details until Saturday. As I was leaving on Sunday, the laundry service was already closed for the weekend, leaving me with no opportunity to follow up myself. The hotel later informed me that the item had not been found among the bedding sent to the laundry. That leaves an obvious question: was it accidentally discarded by housekeeping or was it taken? I will never know, because hotel management did very little to establish what had happened. I received no meaningful assistance, no satisfactory explanation, and no compensation. Losing an item of such personal importance was extremely distressing, and the way the situation was handled only added to that stress. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. We had booked a double room, and also emailed to ensure that we’d have a room with a double bed before arriving. However, we turned up to two single beds. The location is great, and the rooftop and pool areas are very nice. The room on the other hand is very much below a four star standard. We had hairs in the shower and bed, the room was very rough around the edges, and had cracks in the walls. The smell of the kitchen also flowed through the corridor. If you’re looking for a 4 star hotel, don’t book this place. We unfortunately won’t be returning.

Here’s my honest review from the 3 nights I stayed here. Getting to the hotel was easy, as it was straightforward to find. We got to reception at 11pm (after informing them beforehand that we would be checking in between 11pm-12am) and did have to wait around 5-10 minutes before the receptionist showed up. Checking in was nice and easy, with no extra city tax, however you do have to pay €4 a day to use the safe in the room. We requested upon booking, 4 weeks prior, if we could get a dinner/small food package as we would be checking in after the kitchen closed. They replied saying they would be happy to offer a cold dinner package, including ham, salad, and fruit, and asked us to call the hotel on the check-in day to remind them, although they also said they would put a note on the system. I called them 3 times on the check-in day and was placed in a queue each time, only for the call to be cut off after around 2 minutes. Then, when we arrived at the hotel for check-in, they said they couldn’t offer us any dinner or food because the kitchen was closed, even after we showed proof of the previous messages. This was disappointing considering we had paid for dinner, so we had to go out looking for food at midnight, which was inconvenient. The room itself was good. Nothing special, but it had all the necessities promised - towels, shower gel/soap, hairdryer, kettle with tea/coffee, balcony, comfy beds, plenty of power sockets, and cupboards for clothes. No noise complaints, and room service was provided. However, the wifi from the 9th floor was awful. Only 10mbps download speed, so nothing loaded and we had to resort to using mobile data the entire 3 days. Breakfast was fabulous, with plenty of food and drink options. No complaints there. Full English-style breakfast, nice seating and dining area, and great staff. We went out for the day and came back for dinner, only to find we had apparently missed it again. On our key card, it was written that dinner is served until 22:00, although the “2” looked like a “1”, so we initially read it as 11pm, which we knew was wrong. We therefore assumed it said 22:00, but when we got to the canteen at 21:00, they told us they were closed. We showed them the key card, and they said dinner actually finished at 21:00. We were disappointed again. Happy to accept that we had arrived after dinner service, but what made it more frustrating was that we had previously been told at check-in that the kitchen closed at 10pm, which is why we believed the card said 22:00. I can’t prove that 10pm was stated to us, but we are certain that’s what the receptionist said when explaining why we couldn’t get dinner on the first night. Thankfully, we were able to get dinner on our final night though, which was good, as again the food itself was great and we had no complaints there. The pool area has sunbeds, and the pool itself was a good size, although the water didn’t look the cleanest. No pool toys were provided. The water was cold as well; surprisingly colder than the sea at Malaga beach. The pool showers were only spraying cold water too. The gym is decent, with good lighting, dumbbells, and all the usual cardio equipment. The rooftop bar was mediocre. Nothing special. The view wasn’t as good as other rooftop bars we visited during our time in Malaga, but it was still a nice chill-out spot to end the day. Would I call this a 4-star hotel? Maybe for the price, yes, but holistically looking at it, it looks nice and has a nice lobby, but not really much more than that. It has everything you would expect from a regular 3-star hotel, but not much beyond that. That’s not me being harsh, just my opinion after seeing other 4-star hotels in Malaga and visiting some of their rooftop bars and public areas, which felt more pristine and luxurious. Overall, this hotel is good for its price and offers easy access to Malaga centre via the nearby train station. However, the service in some areas, as mentioned above, could definitely be improved. Hope this provides both the hotel and future guests with some insight.
