As someone who spends nearly half of each month staying in hotels for work, I have never encountered a property as poorly managed, outdated, and misleading as this one. From arrival, it was obvious that basic standards of safety, maintenance, and guest care were not being met. Our room had a severe water leak every time it rained. Although staff claimed it was fixed, the issue persisted, forcing me to wake multiple times each night to wipe the floor and prevent flooding. The floor became so slippery that my children slipped several times, which is unacceptable. On top of that, there was a large hole in the room floor, posing a serious safety hazard. The jacuzzi in my room doesn’t work and the claim that is a bath tub only. The room and facilities were old, worn, and in desperate need of renovation. The so-called “ocean view” room is a scam — we only had a tiny glimpse of the ocean, while the actual view was mostly another building. It’s nothing like what’s shown in the photos online, and feels intentionally misleading. The staff attitude changed noticeably depending on tips — friendly and attentive only when tipped generously, otherwise indifferent or dismissive. Room service routinely took over an hour, and the front desk was chaotic and unorganized. We stood waiting over 30 minutes, told to come back at 3 p.m., only to be ignored again until Manuel finally stepped in to help. The food was poor, especially the buffet, which was unhygienic with flies around the food. Several restaurants required waiting in line for more than two hours, which is unacceptable for a resort in this price range. The seafood restaurant was the only positive dining experience. The beach was dirty, unpleasant, and smelled like sewage, making it unusable. The resort itself is small, with very little to do, and the market is outrageously overpriced — even a basic fridge magnet costs over $12 USD. Many small details were neglected, from cleanliness to staff responsiveness, which shows poor management across the board. We only came for a wedding, which was beautifully organized and truly the only highlight of our stay. For such an expensive property, the overall experience was unsafe, misleading, and extremely disappointing. Management does not care about your experience. Dreams Riviera Cancun does not meet the standards of the “Dreams” brand. I would strongly advise future guests to avoid this resort and look elsewhere for better value, safety, and genuine hospitality.

I was worried after seeing some reviews.. but do NOT listen!! Some people just can’t be pleased with anything it seems. For our family with a toddler, this was amazing. Vicente and Ricardo were the best servers we had by the pool. Our house keeper was great, spacious rooms, massive bathroom areas. Clean. Food was great, the Asian and Italian were our favorite! Along with the poolside Mexican fiesta day. Beach was clean, it’s not the fault of the resort if there is seaweed.. they did their best to keep it clean, we loved it! We loved that you could walk everywhere and get coffee at any hour :) ..and only 20 mins from airport. if you are debating booking, just go!!!

This review is long overdue... Overall we had a fantastic stay here at Dreams. The all-inclusive options were excellent, with good variety of food. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable providing a great base for our vacation. We were upgraded to ocean front suite gratefully appreciated. The staff were very friendly and attentive. On the downside we experienced some issues with loud music and weddings every night. Despite this we had a relaxing Getaway this is a good option.

Excellent resort! The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you! The cafe is a hidden gem (best coffee in the resort) the entertainment staff are always so lovely and fun and have a huge amount of things to do for all ages. It's a shame the main pool is warm like bathwater, but the adults only infinity pool is nice and refreshing. Lots of restaurants on site - word of warning if there's a wedding or event on the restaurants are short staffed so there will be a bit of a wait to get in, otherwise the buffet restaurant is air conditioned and generally quick to get into. The food was fantastic and our room cleaner /maid Adriana was so lovely and helpful. Holiday of a lifetime would recommend a stay here!

The resort lobby was gorgeous. We were offered champagne while we waited to get checked in. Our room was spacious, clean, and air conditioned. The staff brought our luggage up to our rooms. Our room cleaner did a wonderful job throughout our stay. There are lots of food options to choose from. Just keep in mind that some of the restaurants have dress codes (casual/ formal). We personally loved the 24 hr Coco cafe. The salmon bagel was my favorite snack from there. They also had a variety or pastries to choose from! The pools were clean and spacious. We mostly swam in the adult only infinity pool with a swim up bar, but the kids on the resort looked like they were having a blast on the water slides. There's an events schedule each day for different activities around the resort. We personally loved the Spanish lessons taught by Hector, archery, and beach volleyball. I loved how when we had an odd number of people playing beach volleyball, the resort staff filled in the spot to make the teams even. The entertainment team did a wonderful job!
