Bahia Principe Coba We have been 4 times to these Bahia Principe's and may not go back. Decent overall experience but you should be aware of some items: The Good: * Food is always accessible and if you have kids, there are a lot of options for them. * Food is good, but it used to be better. * The entertainment is plentiful after 7pm * Kids Club is well organized and the kids get to take part in some evening plays! Cool! * The kids waterpark is decent * Room is tidy after cleaning. The Bad: * General cleanliness of the resort is pretty poor. One night there was broken glass on the entertainment dancefloor (close to the stage). Someone just put up a "Slipper when wet" caution sign and it stayed there for 2 days. My wife and I pointed out the broken glass to a server and they got it "cleaned up" but left the smaller pieces behind. Children Dance at this area! Cigarrette butts along the walk ways throughout the resort that dont seem to get cleaned up. General Garbage around the resorts. They used to have cleaning staff walking the resorts but they dont seem to have that anymore. * POOL TIMES! Expect to be kicked out of the pools by 6pm. Odd, considering you come to Mexico's for pools and beach! And heaven-forbid you be responsible for your own well being. I can understand a 8 or 9pm closure when it gets dark. * Life guards constantly blowing their whistles at patrons for "violations". My violation was letting my child jump from the pool deck into my arms! TWEEEEEET!! There is such constant whistle blowing by the life-guards individual versions of violations, that you just tend to ignore them. * Food - though decent, they do run out of food (due to size of resort population) and they take forever to replenish the food. Sometimes it never gets replenished, depending what it is. * General Quality - I have been here a lot. It is no longer a 5 or 4 star resort. The general quality of service, cleanliness, "fun" and friendliness has noticeably declined. I would not stay here again.

We enjoyed our 7-night stay at Bahia Principe Grand Coba. Overall, it was a good vacation, though there were a few areas that could definitely be improved. The Good: The location is beautiful, and the beach was one of the highlights — definitely bring your snorkeling mask, as there are plenty of fish right off the shore. The pool area and entertainment were also very enjoyable. Most importantly, the staff were excellent — friendly, hardworking, and always welcoming. The Not-So-Good: The rooms are in need of an upgrade, especially the bathrooms, which feel dated. The buffet was decent, but as a vegetarian, I found the options quite limited — particularly when it came to Mexican cuisine. Food labeling was often incorrect or unclear, which made it challenging to navigate dietary restrictions. We also found that the à la carte restaurants were quite selective about what they would accommodate. As guests staying at Coba, we frequently heard “no” when asking for small extras or adjustments. Overall: We still enjoyed our stay, but we likely wouldn’t return to Coba or recommend it. If budget allows, Bahia Principe Grand Tulum or Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal may be better options, though they do come at a higher price point.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The hotel staff - especially at the buffet were incredibly friendly and their service was exceptional. Beach and ocean were beautiful. Only complaint is the room. Telephone didn’t work - had to ask to have it fixed multiple times. Toilet leaked all week. Last night of trip ceiling started pouring water from it at 2am. Fridge was not restocked on multiple days and had to request water multiple times. If it weren’t for the room we received and the service related to the room - this resort would be an absolute 10/10.

We didn't stay at Tulum, but every day we walked there to have lunch. It was a very great buffet with lots of options. Pizza, toasted bread slices, variety of meats and vegetables, fruit choices, everything was so scrumptious! Our wonderful lunch waitress Airam was a gem! She was so attentive, cheerful and gracious, we enjoyed her presence every day! She knew when and what we needed. She has wonderful service skills and we promised to meet again next year. We wish all the best for her!

We've stayed here for a few days, two families with kids. Honestly, the best things come from the nature around. Also, the room was good, A/C worked and was spacious. The buffet was good, food was somewhat bland but still there were gems here and there to find. The biggest pet peeve is the following - you are literally treated as a cow to milk. 1. Currency exchange rate is 1:13 at the hotel, while the actual exchange rate is ~17. 25-30% rip off. 2. Prices are not just inflated, they are just ballooning into the sky. Crocs which cost 35$ are being sold for 110$, and so on. Every single thing is 2-3 times more expensive. 3. There are some great people within the staff, but some are just outright lying to you whenever you ask for something. 4. All (or almost all) alchohol and non-alchohol drinks are dilluted. One of the pinnacles of egregious dillution - sitting in a buffet, once a pineapple juice container was about 1/5 full, a guy came in and just poured in water in there to fill it up. 5. Not the hotel itself, but a market right next to it (which I doubt would operate without hotel's permission or agreement) does balloon prices for everything. Want a plastic bag out of recycled plastic? Price is a 100$, unless you engage in back and forth on bringing this unrealistic expectation to milk you to something like 30$ (still way overpriced, but at least somewhat better). 6. Want to escape this extortion and buy something outside of the hotel? Taxi to a nearby city of Tulum? Expect to shovel 60-70$ one way, for a trip of like 15-20 minutes. All in all, I expected better. I can understand inflated prices, but this is just outright highway robbery. I had lower prices in Switzerland for services and goods than here... says a lot.
