My third stay at The Residence Mauritius, and it truly feels like a home away from home. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, elegant and impeccably maintained — the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. What makes it truly special is the team: warm, professional, attentive and genuinely kind in every department. The service is consistently excellent, the food is delicious, and the whole atmosphere is calm, refined and deeply relaxing. A very special place in Mauritius, and one I cannot recommend highly enough. I already look forward to returning.

Simply superb. We stayed at The Residence after wanting to stay on the East Coast following a stay on the West Coast last May (2025). The hotel oozes calm and relaxation in a stunning beachside location on Belle Mare beach. All the staff are clearly committed to satisfying all customers and the service was first rate. In particular we would like to mention our Butler Sailen who couldn’t have done more to make our stay extra special if he had tried. We were also delighted to find out that we had been upgraded on our arrival which was a beautiful surprise. I made use of the Spa, having a massage which was amazing and in a delightfully decorated and furnished Spa on the lower level of the hotel. The buffet restaurant was excellent and what you’d expect from a hotel of this quality and the staff were polite, professional and extremely efficient in every way. We visited the Plantation restaurant 3 times during our visit as we were so impressed with the quality and presentation of the a la carte menu and beach side location. It was so relaxing and romantic and again the staff were exceptional. We always enjoyed an after dinner cocktail in the bar where the live music was delightful and we would like to mention Sarah and Sakib whose service was attentive and polite at all times. We were never sure if Sakib ever slept, he always seemed to be there! Finally, the beach and pool area. The pool was very clean and lovely to swim in, although not heated so you had to be brave on certain cooler days! Not a problem for me but maybe for others. The pool area was always immaculate in cleanliness and the staff were always available to look after guests needs whether providing fresh towels or taking orders for food and drinks. The hotel has 2 beach areas, one with a shady palm tree area, great on a hot day if you required a bit of shade. Our personal favourite was the more ‘wind protected, section in front of the Plantation Restaurant. The sand is pure and golden, the waters clear and delightful and once again we must name drop Sam, who we discovered had worked at the hotel for over 20 years and his younger cohort Suryadev. Both were fantastic in their attentiveness and politeness. We would highly recommend The Residence and wouldn’t hesitate in visiting again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and such amazing memories.

An outstanding stay from start to finish! My stay at The Residence Mauritius was absolutely wonderful. From the very first moment, I felt genuinely welcome and extremely well taken care of. The reception staff were warm, friendly, and highly professional. I was greeted with a delicious welcome drink and received a thorough introduction to the hotel. My luggage was handled seamlessly and brought directly to the room. The room itself was fantastic. Perfectly equipped, spotless, and beautifully maintained. Housekeeping did an outstanding job every single day, including daily replacement of fresh water. The beach and pool areas were awesome! Comfortable loungers, breathtaking ocean views, and truly outstanding service. The staff were extremely attentive, prepared the loungers with fresh towels, and regularly offered drinks directly at the loungers, creating a consistently relaxed and premium experience. Tip: Don’t miss ordering a fresh coconut and simply enjoying the pure taste of coconut water. The Dining Room deserves special recognition. It is one of the best buffet restaurants I have ever experienced. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional in every aspect. Breakfast offered a fantastic variety of fresh, high-quality options and was a perfect start to the day. Dinner featured different themed evenings with outstanding food quality throughout. Everything was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and incredibly flavorful. The fish dishes in particular were phenomenal and among the best I have ever had. What truly stood out was how exceptionally well managed The Dining Room is. The restaurant is clearly run with great attention to detail. The manager and the entire team had everything perfectly under control at all times. Service ran smoothly, efficiently, and with genuine warmth, making every visit a pleasure. The entire resort is super well maintained, with beautiful gardens that invite you to explore the grounds. The beach is stunning, and the peaceful moments by the ocean will stay with me for a long time. Overall, this hotel exceeded all expectations. I felt extremely comfortable throughout my stay and will definitely return!

The Residence Mauritius – A Comfortable Stay with Room to Grow ⭐⭐⭐½ | May 2026 | Junior Suite, Half Board The Residence Mauritius is a pleasant hotel with genuine charm, but a few details hold it back from fully earning its five-star billing. Accommodation Our junior suite was spacious and beautifully presented. The room service team were always friendly, but the amenities were disappointing for a five-star property — a basic hairdryer, an iron only available on request, a fridge that didn’t work, and water you have to pay for. Small things individually, but together they add up and feel out of place at this level. A big thank you however for granting us a late check-out — travelling with kids and a 21:15 flight, it was an absolute lifesaver and made the end of the holiday so much more relaxed. Food & Dining The food was a genuine highlight — and a lot of that is down to Chef Sanjay, who was truly exceptional. Over 12 nights he delivered outstanding meals with real passion, remembered our preferences, added personal touches, and brought warmth to every interaction. He elevated the entire dining experience and was honestly one of the best parts of our holiday. Breakfasts on half board were good but fairly repetitive. Dinners changed theme nightly and were excellent for all but one evening across our stay. The hotel has two restaurants plus a Boathouse with activities, though we didn’t get round to using them. Pool & Common Areas The lobby is stunning — a beautiful first impression that really sets the tone — and the pool area is equally gorgeous to look at. The pool itself is unheated though, so unless it’s 28°C or above it can feel very cold. Worth bearing in mind if you’re visiting in May. Staff & Facilities One of the hotel’s greatest strengths is its people. From check-in to check-out, the staff were consistently warm, helpful and genuinely friendly — it made a real difference throughout the stay. No valet parking — you park yourself — which is a small thing but noticeable at a five-star property. Overall A lovely hotel with a beautiful setting, friendly staff and great food. It feels slightly dated in places and the in-room amenities genuinely need an upgrade to match the five-star price tag. That said, Chef Sanjay and the wider team make it a very enjoyable stay. Go in with calibrated expectations and you won’t be disappointed
