The Lucerne Hotel

My partner and I stayed at this hotel and, from the very beginning, the overall feeling was very positive. As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed on the street and helped with our luggage. The staff opened the main hall door for us, and throughout the entire stay their kindness and professionalism were consistently present. The hotel has two elevators, which helps avoid long waiting times. It also offers a fitness area, vending machines, and a computer area for guests who may need it, although we didn’t use these services. We also didn’t try the restaurant or breakfast, as we didn’t book that option, so we can’t comment on that aspect. The room itself was very comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, quite high, and came with several pillows so you can choose depending on the firmness or thickness you prefer. The room includes a coffee machine with complimentary coffee and milk, a television, Wi-Fi, a wardrobe with a safe to store valuables, and a bottle of water available at an additional cost. The bathroom is a bit dated, but everything works perfectly. It has a comfortable bathtub, toilet, and sink area, along with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and both hand and body cream. The hotel’s decoration is very well cared for, with a classic, elegant, and slightly old-fashioned style, dominated by gold, brown, and burgundy tones. The façade follows the same aesthetic, which gives the hotel a lot of character. As aspects to improve, the main one would be the soundproofing of the rooms, as you can hear almost everything that happens in the hallway and in the neighboring rooms. Another point to consider is the air conditioning and heating system, which is quite noisy and could benefit from an update. Aside from these details, our stay was excellent, and overall it’s a very comfortable and charming hotel, especially if you appreciate classic-style accommodations.

Mari Tree

This is our go to hotel on the upper east side. The doorman is always welcoming and helpful. The front desk staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are spacious for NYC and we have never had a problem with noise from neighbors or street noise as the rooms are well insulated for sound. The beds are comfortable and we especially love staying in the deluxe rooms, which have a sitting area, mini fridge and microwave.

Roomy suite / pick your floor and orientation We got a suite which had nice space to hang out, sleep and prepare coffee (had microwave and fridge). We faced west end ave and were on the 2nd floor, so we were subject to street noise. Room decor is also dark and dated. The staff were friendly and pleasant and eager to please. Plenty of transportation options as well as restaurant choices around, also a plus Near to shopping and Central Park and things to do !! If we return would go to higher floor and facing 79 st.

This hotel is in a great location and the staff were always nice and attentive. I pleasantly got a really big room considering I was just a solo traveler. I stayed for 7 nights in room 523 and unfortunately you can hear water running all night in that room. I wear earplugs so it didn’t affect me too much but something to consider. My biggest complaint however was that on day 4, I found a cockroach in my sink. I called downstairs and was informed that cockroaches do tend to crawl up from the pipes when it’s cold and normally they would fumigate my room however they were completely full. They sent someone up to my room to take it away but I did have to stay another 3 nights in that room. I consider The Lucerne to be a very nice hotel so I am surprised more effort isn’t taken to prevent bugs from getting into the room.

I've stated here a couple of times and looking forward to another stay next month!!! If you've been to NYC before and want a less noisy area but close to everything (walk, trasnit) this is a great place! upper west side is amazing without out all the horn honking of midtown!!! check in was easy, no long wait time, staff was welcoming, this is a great place to feel like you're a local while on vacation! rooms are a good size too! and deli across the street for juice, salads, coffee and anything you need! love it!
