⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently stayed at this resort for 5 days, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a relaxing atmosphere — perfect for a short getaway. My room was comfortable and clean, with good amenities. Housekeeping did a great job throughout my stay, and the resort staff were friendly and welcoming. The environment felt peaceful and safe, which made the trip even better. The food was generally good, especially breakfast, which had plenty of options. The pool and beach areas were lovely, and there were enough activities to keep things interesting without feeling overwhelming. I appreciated that everything was easy to access and organized. Despite the small setbacks, the overall vibe, cleanliness, and scenery made this trip memorable. It’s a great option for anyone looking for comfort, relaxation, and quality time away.

Upon arrival, they helped us with our bags and gave us a welcome drink. Check in was easy, and they were all very friendly and welcoming. We were hungry from the travel and ate at the buffet first, it was mediocre. Went to the buffet several times during the stay, as the speciality restaurants are only open during the evening. Seems like every time we ate there, we got a smoky scent on our clothes due to lack of ventilation. We stayed on the first floor by the street and could hear everything, you’re going to want to bring ear plugs. The only quiet night was a Saturday. I’m not sure if it’s a Mexico thing, or outdated resort- but there’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so the room could never ventilate properly. Gym rat approved fitness center - everything you need to get a decent work out in. But again, little ventilation. Their stair master was also out of service. We split the massage and the hydrotherapy on different days, which worked out better. There was just a cockroach in the steam room. The coffee bar was amazing to have. I worried about food poisoning between the raw sushi bar and Mexican restaurant, but made it out okay. The drinks were either watered down or very weak, I’m very small and couldn’t feel them which is atypical. The pool was cold, not a lot of people used it. If they invested in heating it during the winter months, that would be nice. The beach is a disappointment. Very stinky and unappealing and seeps into the resort. Felt very safe here, police patrol the area non-stop. Overall, I’d stay here again if the deal looked right - but not worth $500+ per night. And I wouldn’t stay on the first floor again.

We came here between Christmas and new years for a quick beach getaway. Their beach has basically disappeared because of climate change. There is a little rocky beach on the side, too shallow and rocky for swimming. Staff was lovely and the foam parties were fun. Top shelf drinks and food and pool/beach cabanas cost extra. We read a lot of other reviews before choosing this place and are not sure why anyone said the beach was “great” but the pool is nice if you are pool people instead of beach people. Restaurants were good, nothing spectacular though. Fine for a few days away but there are definitely better options for beaches.

Could not recommend Wyndham Alltra enough! While all the typical food and views of other reviews are absolutely true - what stood out to me was the safety. As a single female traveling alone, the security at the front (Juan specifically) were awesome at helping me out and making sure I knew where was safe to go. Juan also gave me tips on general safe practices when out and about in Mexico. Bartenders and servers were attentive, fast and so much fun. All of the staff spoke excellent English. I also asked for an upgraded room when I arrived, they gave me a much better deal for a junior king suite in person then booking it online (although this may have been because it was slow season and there was more room availability). Liquor was high quality and full 1 or 2 oz pours, everything I wanted was included in the all inclusive rate. The private beach was small but beautiful, I didn’t find it rocky like other reviews on here. Both pools were fantastic, upstairs pool was very relaxing and the main floor pool had a lot more going on depending on your vibe. Liquor service stops at 11, expect to have to leave the resort if you really want to party. You’ll have no problems meeting other guests to go out to 5th ave with!

I just stayed at the Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen, and while there are some positives, the “all-inclusive” experience is somewhat misleading. Certain drinks at the bar—such as Patrón and Red Bull—come with an extra charge, which wasn’t clearly communicated upfront. The pool closes early, limiting evening use. Room service food itself is free, but there’s a mandatory $10 USD delivery fee with no option for guest pickup, so it’s not truly free. The buffet also doesn’t allow guests to take food back to their rooms—you’re required to eat on site. The resort does offer beach access, but it is not private, so you’ll likely encounter vendors and members of the public. The beach chairs are not as sturdy or well-maintained as the chairs by the main pool. Additionally, for the size of the hotel, there are not enough pool chairs, meaning you’ll need to arrive early to secure dedicated seating by the main pool. The hotel is open-air and not fully enclosed, which led to encounters with bats and raccoons in the hallways—something guests should be aware of. On a positive note, the bathroom and shower are very spacious, which was a nice touch; however, the shower water pressure was below average. The location is excellent, being right near shopping, lounges, and nightlife. While the hotel itself didn’t offer many activities, the surrounding area more than made up for it. Another highlight was the food—everything I tried across the restaurants was delicious, and I genuinely enjoyed the dining experience. Overall, the staff has been polite and the location and food are strong positives, but clearer transparency around fees, policies, and amenities would significantly improve the guest experience.
