So I struggled with rating this place between a 3 and a 4. My service rating has nothing to do with the staff itself as a whole. Everyone was pleasant, accommodating, respectful, and available. My issue came in with a few things that may be small to some but made the difference in how I decided to write this review. First off, I was there with a large wedding party for a 5-day stay. Several of our party really could have benefited from having a working elevator. However the elevator was out of service from the time we got there until we left leaving some of us who struggle with mobility having to use the stairs to move throughout the resort. Why not get a room on the first floor you ask? Because the views from my room were stunning! I had a Seaside view that I was not willing to give up but yes I did struggle getting up and down stairs as did others for the exact same reason. My second issue was that for this to be an adult only, all-inclusive resort, why are the pools shutting down at 8:00, 8:30 p.m.? I know regular hotels whose pool stay open till 10 and 11:00 at night! Finally, I don't like that you're not able to take your meal away from the restaurant in a to-go box. Yes they do have a 24-hour room service menu but you have to pay an additional $10 when you're having those meals brought to your room. We've already spent thousands of dollars to stay at this all-inclusive place so why am I paying additional money to have this menu available to me? Yes there is a room with a 24-hour snack option but the options are the same every day. There is no change in the menu or items provided and you just don't want to eat that stuff over and over each night. The other option would have been to go out to the strip and spend additional money at one of the restaurants or local bars in the area. I'm not saying all this to dump trash on this venue because it is beautiful with stunning views and a bar that rocks! However, there is definite room for improvement. Some things I loved were the variety of food options available, the pool was simply beautiful and comfortable and the water was amazing! Some of my friends did the guacamole making and tasting which seemed to be kind of fun, I don't eat guacamole lol. The Gazebo that we held the wedding events in was simply stunning! They were more than accommodating for the bride, groom and wedding party and they went out of their way to make sure that needs were met for that event! A tip if you plan to do any traveling to places like this, bring lots of cash in smaller denominations so that you have the ability to tip everyone you would like to give money to. They typically don't have anything besides pesos or a way to get smaller bills for what you might have so come prepared! Also be prepared for the raccoon family that loves to make an entrance wherever they choose throughout the hotel especially in the lobby near the bar lol! They are not aggressive but I wouldn't approach or give them room to snatch your food if you put it down.

We had such a great time in Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen. The room was nice, the hotel is beautiful, the staff is really great and were taking care of us perfectly. All the food and beverage outlets were so good, there are so many choices and the quality is great. It was our first time in an All inclusive resort and everything was perfect. Thank you to Juan from the spa, Victor the bellman, Angel from the pool bar, Eduardo from Las Brasas and Luis from the front office ! And all the others who served us throughout the week. Hasta la proxima !

I stayed at the Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen Adults Only and honestly came away with mixed feelings — but I’d still consider staying again because the location carries this resort hard. The biggest selling point is absolutely where it’s located. You’re right in the middle of Playa del Carmen and can easily walk to shopping, restaurants, bars, nightlife, and the beach. If you’re someone who likes leaving the resort and exploring, this location is a huge advantage compared to larger Riviera Maya resorts where you feel isolated once you’re on property. The vibe of the resort was more relaxed and social than luxury. It didn’t feel overly rowdy or like a nonstop spring break party, but it also wasn’t super quiet either. It had a really good middle-ground energy where you could hang by the pool, have drinks, meet people, or just relax without feeling pressured into activities all day. The bartenders and staff were friendly, and the pool atmosphere was honestly one of the highlights of the trip for me. Now for the honest part — the food was probably the weakest area for me. Breakfast was consistently the best meal of the day and had a solid variety of options. Outside of breakfast, the buffet food was pretty average overall. Not terrible, but not something I found myself looking forward to either. To be completely fair, I never made it to the specialty restaurants because I kept getting too comfortable (and too drunk) at the pool during the day and never recovered in time for dinner plans, so that part is probably on me. 😂 The rooms themselves were actually good and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the room size was solid, and I had no complaints there. The bathrooms, though, definitely felt more dated and could use updating compared to the rest of the room. The beach situation is probably the most misleading part if you only look at resort photos online. There isn’t really direct “walk straight onto the beach” access from the pool area like some people may expect. There’s a smaller sand/lounge area on property with chairs, but there’s a bush/vegetation barrier between that area and the actual beach. To get to the real beach and beach bar with the swings, I had to go out toward the front/side of the resort and walk around. Maybe there was another access point I missed, but it definitely wasn’t intuitive. The beach itself visually looks beautiful when you’re standing there looking out at the water — that classic turquoise Playa del Carmen color is absolutely there. But once you actually walk into the water, there were a lot of rocks, which made getting in a little rough in some spots. And unfortunately, when I visited, the seaweed situation was BAD. I know that depends heavily on the season and nature, not necessarily the resort itself, but it definitely impacted the beach experience during my stay. Overall, I think this resort is best for travelers who care more about location, walkability, social atmosphere, and having an easy fun vacation than having a super upscale luxury resort experience. If you’re expecting a perfect beachfront all-inclusive with amazing food and ultra-modern everything, you may leave disappointed. But if you want a reasonably priced adults-only resort in the heart of Playa del Carmen where you can relax, drink by the pool, and easily explore the area around you, Wyndham Alltra does that really well.

The entertainment team has been phenomenal. David, Carlos and Jenica have made our week so fun! Great mix of participation without being obnoxious. One of the best teams we've seen in a while (and we do one or two all inclusives a year) Bar staff is super responsive. Huge thanks to Jaime and Sebastian! They increased our enjoyment of this resort and are invaluable assets. We got a great deal on a standard room so knew what we were getting into (and we're hardly in the room) but the room is incredibly dark, think inside cabin on a cruise ship. Our relatives have a balcony room and the difference is significant. Definitely the worst room we've stayed in at an all inclusive. However housekeeping was great, room was clean, bed was comfy just dim lighting, no windows that you can open and small. If you come here complaining about the beach you've read zero reviews. There is minimal beach and what chairs they have at the north beach, near the beach bar, none have umbrellas. However they probably have 40-50 chairs out there so it's not non-existent. Sargassum in this area is heavy right now so no swimming in the water at this time. Would come back for the staff. Had a great week

Went for a 3 night stay with my husband and this place wasn’t the best. The food was disappointing, gross, and just not good. It’s very cheaply made and nothing looks fresh. The elevator was broken which they blamed on weather but I don’t know. The pool was very nice and the servers were eh okay. They seemed annoyed that they had to work outside. The drinks were decent. The pizza place was actually really good but they’re only open for lunch basically. The entertainment was LAME and very loud which whatever but if it was good which is was not lol they also have a guy around the pool all day trying to get you to take pictures and obviously pay for them. Kind of annoying. There’s no beach access which is okay but still kind of boring. 5th street is fun but sucks that you have to leave your all inclusive when that’s kind of the point?
