We booked Sankara Bali on a good promo from Perth, which made it very good value for money. It is a small resort that focuses on the basics most people actually want, a pool, spa, and restaurant. Nothing flashy or overly styled, but comfortable and practical. The garden is quite pretty and well kept, and the pool itself is great and easy to enjoy throughout the day. Unfortunately, we stayed during a period when the restaurant was under construction, so we only got to enjoy it on our last day. From what we experienced then, it would have been a nice part of the stay if it had been available earlier. The surrounding area feels like it should be quiet and calm, however there is currently another resort being built next door. That construction does detract from the overall tranquillity. Without it, this place would feel genuinely peaceful. Location wise, it is around a 10 to 30 minute drive into central Ubud, depending on Bali traffic, which is always unpredictable. It is close enough to be convenient without being in the middle of the chaos. There is a shuttle bus that runs every three hours, which is useful, but traffic can affect pickup and return times. Onsite spa and other services follow typical resort pricing and are on the expensive side. This is easy to work around though, as Jaens Spa, one of Ubud’s best spas, is just a block away with better pricing and service. If you simply step out onto the street, better value food and everyday services are right on the doorstep, so there is no need to rely on resort pricing at all. In terms of staff, the team is predominantly younger, both in age and experience. Friendliness and hospitality is very good. Everyone was polite and well intentioned, but we did experience a few service hiccups. Most of these came down to clearer communication, likely influenced by the language barrier. There also appears to be a high number of trainees, so service and quality can fluctuate depending on who serves you. You definitely notice the difference when an experienced staff member steps in, including at the bar, where I watched my mojito get absolutely massacred. None of this was a deal breaker. Overall, Sankara Bali is a solid, good value option if you book it at the right price. A comfortable base with strong nearby amenities, just be aware that current construction and variable service can impact the overall sense of calm.

Beautiful resort. Amenities are great! I loveeee the bathroom with the bathtub facing the pool feature. Spacy bathroom is a selling point for me. We had a bit of a hiccup on the first night, the sheets smell a bit moldy due to rainy season but soon as we feedback, the team changed everything immediately and they were really sweet and helpful about everything. But honestly very lovely experience otherwise. We did yoga most everyday at the resort too.

We had the BEST stay at Sankara Resort for our honeymoon!!! HIGHLY recommend!!! We stayed in a pool Villa and it was a dream come true, we did not want to leave. The staff are so friendly and well organized. The food was delicious, the rooms are clean and well equipped, the spa treatment is out of this world and our driver and tour guide, Budi showed us the beauty in Ubud and taught us about culture. There is so much more to say but I would go back any day, make sure to book a day longer than you originally planned to.

The resort is beautiful, but our stay at Sanskara Ubud was extremely disappointing. Breakfast options were very limited when it comes to floating breakfast. More seriously, AUD 500 was stolen from our in-room safe one night before checkout while we were out. Nothing else was disturbed. After this, we checked reviews and found multiple similar cases where money was taken from the safe just a day before checkout, which appears to be a repeated pattern guests realise the loss at the last moment when they are rushed with checkout or travel plans. When reported, the staff only suggested an “investigation” and did not take responsibility or resolve the issue. We doubt all of them are involved in the share. Due to serious safety and trust concerns, we would not recommend this property.

We stayed in non deluxe Room 815 for 3 nights and their deluxe private pool room for 1 night. We liked room 815 more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had my birthday during the stay and they surprised me with a song and cake at the free breakfast which was excellent. Things which can be improved are more options on the breakfast menu. Better stocking of amenities for the bathroom. The massage was overpriced so better to get one outside. Overall very good and recommended.
