We recently spent two nights at Shangri-La Hambantota on a full-board package, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience for our family. The breakfast buffet was especially impressive, with a great variety of choices. The Sri Lankan corner was excellent, along with a good selection of international and continental options. Lunch and dinner also offered a nice variety, and overall, we felt the full-board package was good value for money. One small point regarding breakfast was the beef bacon. Unfortunately, it was quite dry and difficult to enjoy. I feel it would be much better grilled rather than fried, and perhaps the quality of the beef bacon could also be reviewed. A small area for improvement would be the guest service. A warm smile and friendly approach can make a big difference, and it is important that every guest receives the same level of attention and hospitality. We also appreciated the Chef personally coming to our table to ask about the food and our experience. Unfortunately, I can’t remember his name, but it was a nice gesture and much appreciated. Overall, we really enjoyed our two-night stay and had a wonderful time. Thank you to the entire Shangri-La Hambantota team for your hospitality. We look forward to visiting again!

A Wonderful Family-Friendly Stay at Shangri-La Hambantot Actually beginning of this month when I checked the reviews they were not so good and I immediately wrote to their general email address raising my concerns. Not only they replied me but also had gone through the google reviews as I noted they have replied to the reviews after some time following my email. Then came our 2 day stay!! We had a wonderful stay at Shangri-La Hambantota and were particularly impressed by how genuinely kid-friendly the hotel is. From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm welcome, and everything throughout our stay went smoothly and seamlessly. One of the highlights was the thoughtful setup at the main restaurant. They have a dedicated children’s buffet area, complete with food options suited for little ones, as well as separate children’s plates, chairs and tables. It was such a lovely touch and made mealtimes much easier and more enjoyable for families with young children. The attention to these small details really shows that the hotel understands what families need. 2 of the chef’s were very kind and helpful even prepared seperate kids friendly fried rice to my kids. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We truly appreciated the effort taken to make our children feel welcome rather than simply accommodated. A beautiful property, excellent hospitality and, most importantly, a place where families with children can genuinely relax and enjoy their holiday. Highly recommended for families, especially those travelling with young children. We would happily return!

Mixed Experience for a Corporate Stay. Disappointed about buffet varietys. We recently stayed at Shangri-La for a company event with a group of over 200 guests. Overall, the experience had its highlights, but there were several key areas where expectations were not fully met. Arrival & Check-in Upon arrival, we received a pleasant welcome. However, the hotel struggled to manage the crowd for the welcome drinks and wet towels, leaving many without them. Rooms & Amenities The luggage handling and support service were efficient and smooth. While the rooms were neatly arranged, they lacked the luxury feel one would expect from a hotel of this tier. Additionally, we noticed drainage issues in the washroom where water accumulated, and the ventilation/blower system didn't seem effective as the washroom stayed wet overnight. Facilities The outdoor facilities—including the pool area, gardens, and the golf ground—were exceptionally well-maintained. Food & Dining The food quality and taste were good, but the main buffet was a major disappointment due to the extremely limited variety. The dessert corner was equally disappointing, with essentially the same dessert repeated across the spread. For a star-class hotel catering to a corporate group of 200+ people, this lack of variety is unacceptable, and the management should definitely look into it. Service Special credit goes to the staff, who were polite, attentive, and provided great service throughout our stay. Verdict Good service and great grounds, but the lack of food variety and minor room maintenance issues really let down what could have been a premium experience.

My stay at Shangri-La Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa was overall a calm and enjoyable experience, with several highlights that made the visit memorable. The triple room was notably spacious, offering a comfortable layout with an eye-catching interior design that immediately created a relaxing atmosphere. The room’s ambiance and presentation added a touch of luxury that enhanced the overall stay. The outdoor pools were well maintained, with the main pool standing out due to its stunning view. It is an ideal spot to unwind, especially in the evening, as it provides a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset over the beach—one of the most memorable aspects of the resort. Dining at the resort was also a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, with a variety of options available, and the dining areas were well organized. The staff deserve special mention for their professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring guests are handled in a comfortable and welcoming manner throughout their stay. The golf course was well maintained and appealing, particularly for golf enthusiasts. In addition to golf, the resort offers a range of recreational activities such as 8-ball pool and table tennis. For rugby enthusiasts, the sports and recreational team is readily available to provide equipment like rugby balls, allowing guests to fully enjoy their leisure time on the premises. While certain areas of the property appeared slightly under maintained, it did not significantly detract from the overall experience. The resort still provides a peaceful and pleasant environment, making it a suitable destination for both local and international tourists seeking a relaxing getaway.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a huge and spacious property, a peaceful atmosphere, and excellent amenities. The rooms were spacious, beautifully maintained, and equipped with all the upscale facilities you would expect from a luxury resort. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There is also so much to do here, including archery, golf, multiple swimming pools, and a fantastic water play area. With three large swimming pools and plenty of space to relax, it’s a great place for both families and couples looking for a peaceful getaway. Overall, a beautiful resort with excellent facilities, delicious food, wonderful service, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!
