⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an amazing stay at Shangri-La Hambantota! The resort is absolutely beautiful, with breathtaking ocean views, spacious and spotless rooms, and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The food was delicious with a great variety of local and international dishes. The swimming pools, beach access, and overall facilities were excellent and well maintained. Every detail reflected true 5-star hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway in Sri Lanka. I can’t wait to visit again!

Mixed Experience for a Corporate Stay. Disappointed about buffet varietys. We recently stayed at Shangri-La for a company event with a group of over 200 guests. Overall, the experience had its highlights, but there were several key areas where expectations were not fully met. Arrival & Check-in Upon arrival, we received a pleasant welcome. However, the hotel struggled to manage the crowd for the welcome drinks and wet towels, leaving many without them. Rooms & Amenities The luggage handling and support service were efficient and smooth. While the rooms were neatly arranged, they lacked the luxury feel one would expect from a hotel of this tier. Additionally, we noticed drainage issues in the washroom where water accumulated, and the ventilation/blower system didn't seem effective as the washroom stayed wet overnight. Facilities The outdoor facilities—including the pool area, gardens, and the golf ground—were exceptionally well-maintained. Food & Dining The food quality and taste were good, but the main buffet was a major disappointment due to the extremely limited variety. The dessert corner was equally disappointing, with essentially the same dessert repeated across the spread. For a star-class hotel catering to a corporate group of 200+ people, this lack of variety is unacceptable, and the management should definitely look into it. Service Special credit goes to the staff, who were polite, attentive, and provided great service throughout our stay. Verdict Good service and great grounds, but the lack of food variety and minor room maintenance issues really let down what could have been a premium experience.

We had a fantastic stay and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help. The food was delicious with excellent quality, and the service was outstanding from check-in to check-out. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing a truly relaxing experience. The triple room was notably spacious, offering a comfortable layout with an eye-catching interior design that immediately created a relaxing atmosphere. The room’s ambiance and presentation added a touch of luxury that enhanced the overall stay. The outdoor pools were well maintained, with the main pool standing out due to its stunning view. It is an ideal spot to unwind, especially in the evening, as it provides a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset over the beach—one of the most memorable aspects of the resort. Dining at the resort was also a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, with a variety of options available, and the dining areas were well organized. The staff deserve special mention for their professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring guests are handled in a comfortable and welcoming manner throughout their stay. The golf course was well maintained and appealing, particularly for golf enthusiasts. In addition to golf, the resort offers a range of recreational activities such as 8-ball pool and table tennis. For rugby enthusiasts, the sports and recreational team is readily available to provide equipment like rugby balls, allowing guests to fully enjoy their leisure time on the premises. While certain areas of the property appeared slightly under maintained, it did not significantly detract from the overall experience. The resort still provides a peaceful and pleasant environment, making it a suitable destination for both local and international tourists seeking a relaxing getaway.

Our stay at Shangri-La Hambantota was absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The resort itself is stunning, with beautiful grounds, three swimming pools, and an excellent kids' play area that kept our children entertained throughout our stay. The food was outstanding, with a great variety and consistently delicious quality. Our room was spacious and featured a huge balcony. Although part of the sea view was blocked by a coconut tree, it didn't take away from our overall experience because the room itself was beautiful and the service was exceptional. We already knew before booking that the beach here isn't suitable for swimming, so that wasn't a disappointment for us. Instead, we thoroughly enjoyed the resort's facilities and relaxed atmosphere. One of the highlights was booking a Yala National Park safari through the hotel. The hotel thoughtfully packed breakfast and snacks for our early morning departure, which was a lovely touch. We were also incredibly lucky to spot a leopard during the safari, making it an unforgettable experience. Having previously travelled to Thailand and Malaysia, I can honestly say that Sri Lanka deserves far more recognition. The warmth and hospitality of the Sri Lankan people are truly exceptional. Almost everyone speaks and understands English well, making communication effortless. We also found the food to be even better than expected, and overall the country offered excellent value for money compared with many other popular tourist destinations. Overall, Shangri-La Hambantota provided an outstanding experience with wonderful hospitality, great facilities, excellent food, and memorable experiences. We would happily return and highly recommend it to families as well as couples looking for a relaxing getaway.
