Stayed at the Marriott Sanibel Harbor for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Overall a very good experience. We had a few issues with housekeeping and the room, but the staff and service made up for it. Overall our Suite was nice, but a damaged coffee table cut my knee and the sink in the bathroom sprayed water everywhere when used. We also had some fruit fly issues. The property is beautiful and the service is top notch. Manager Nick quickly resolved our housekeeping issue and offered a cabana on our anniversary day. Restaurant manager Michael was great as were the bell staff and pool staff. Pool area is wonderful and food was excellent. Definitely a great choice for staying close to Sanibel.

We stayed here for a quick weekend on my birthday. No kids. There was a beautiful view upon entering. Everything was clean and had so many amenities we wish we stayed longer or brought our kids! What was most special was the F&B manager Mike at the end of a late night totally was able to hook my husband and I up with this absolutely delicious lava cake that I was craving (even if the kitchen was closing). We enjoyed the Knicks game at the stunning sunset at Sanibel Harbour. It was perfectly located we were able to get right on and off the island. Everything was perfect thank you so much. Oh my, I almost forgot. There was dolphin viewings right from our room, magical!

I’m split on this review. Overall it was lovely but for a resort of this caliber it definitely had some issues. The valet staff that greeted us was prompt and friendly but we chose to self park so I have no further review. Parking is plentiful and easy to access from the hotel elevator. The staff at the front desk deigned to assist us with check in but she honestly seemed to have something more important to do so I left feeling that I was a bit like a bother when I asked a few questions about the property. She answered them, but was not friendly or welcoming and lacked the polish that I am accustomed to at a Marriott. The restaurants on site were both fantastic and the food was excellent. Our wait staff was attentive and friendly. Meri did everything she could to ensure our dinner was a delight. We enjoyed an afternoon at the fantastic pool at the water’s edge. Scenic and stunning. We also enjoyed an afternoon snack at the Cove bar where Asia served us and shared friendly conversation. The pool was amazing! There’s a water feature and a separate jacuzzi. It’s really very nice! The lobby is fitted with a well-equipped Starbucks and ice cream vendor. There’s also a substantial gift shop for your needs although it closed at 5:00, which seemed early. No worries. The attendant at the places were super friendly. Our room was on a high floor with a water view and it rivaled something from Hawaii. Absolutely breathtaking. The layout provided ample space and included two TVs! There was a dining table and a full wet bar with a refrigerator for our needs. The king sized bed was actually dwarfed in this room. The bedding was crisp and comfortable. There was a safe in the closet and the bathroom had lovely double sinks. A rare find! Unfortunately, the upholstery in the room was a bit worn and the sofa really needed refurbishing. It looked to be at least 20 years old, well-worn and saggy. We walked around the room without our shoes only to find our feet blackened with dirt. Clearly the carpets needed cleaning and hadn’t been kept up for quite some time. Our iron didn’t work and we had to call downstairs three times to get assistance. During the third call, I did not enjoy being scolded by the attendant raising her voice to me that she was trying to find someone to help. (We ended up being late for our dinner plans due to the wait). Another iron was delivered eventually. Overall I would recommend this hotel and if probably stay there again.

We are extremely disappointed with our experience at this hotel. We booked our stay through Priceline in February for four nights, and unfortunately the property was not accurately represented online. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed an odd smell when checking into the main lobby. However, the lobby itself was beautiful, so at first we did not think too much of it. During check-in, we were informed that our room was not located in the main building, but instead in a second tower located on the other side of the property, which required us to drive there. After receiving our keys and arriving at the second tower, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong sewage-like odor. The smell was absolutely putrid, overpowering, and suffocating from the moment we stepped outside of the car. At that point, we realized the hotel was located directly next to a swamp, which was never disclosed or apparent in the hotel listing. When we entered the room, the situation only became worse. The odor was so overwhelming that it was difficult to breathe, and we could not even stand out on the balcony because of the smell. In addition, the refrigerator in the room was leaking, leaving water all over the floor. Within approximately 20 minutes of checking in, we returned to the main building to request a room change. We asked if we could at least be moved into the main tower and even expressed that we were willing to pay additional money for an upgraded room if necessary; however, we were told there was nothing available. The only alternative offered was another room in the same building on a different floor, which clearly would not resolve the issue. In addition to the unacceptable conditions, the staff and manager on that day was extremely unhelpful and dismissive throughout the situation. We felt as though our concerns were not taken seriously, and rather than attempting to assist us or provide a reasonable solution, the staff appeared more interested in moving on to the next customer. At that point, we made the decision to check out immediately because the conditions were completely unacceptable. We contacted Priceline right away to request a refund. Priceline attempted to reach hotel management on our behalf, and we also personally attempted to contact hotel management multiple times since February. Unfortunately, the hotel has not made any attempt or meaningful effort to contact myself or Priceline to resolve the situation or rectify the experience. As a result, we are currently out approximately $1,200 for a stay we were physically unable to complete due to the conditions of the property. I do not recommend this hotel. They clearly misrepresent the property and do not seem to genuinely care about their customers or resolving issues when problems arise.

I was very leery on writing a review based on our recent stay but I want to make sure that I warn others of some things that happened while we were there. I had requested an early check in. I understand that those are not always guaranteed but when I booked the hotel and also the day before we arrived; I notified the hotel that we would arrive around 3 pm. We had two young kids with us. Upon arrival at 3 pm, we checked in at the front desk. The gentleman told us our room wasn't quite ready yet but it shouldn't be too long. No big deal. We visited the pool bar and waited for a call. It was 3 minutes until 4 when we finally got our room. It started out our experience not that great. You can't tell me that there was not a 2 queen bed room that we would have been placed in upon our arrival. Second, I booked the Captiva tower. I have stayed at many resorts in the past that have multiple "towers" that are all close in proximity. Little did we know, the Captiva tower was a short golf cart ride away that we always had to call and request before being able to come back to the main part. Outside of the Captiva tower it smelled like rotten eggs. Each guest we talk with made a comment about the smell. It also seemed like a foreign land. Other than when the golf cart ran the shuttle when called, there was no staff stationed at the Captiva tower. The Captiva tower had a pool. I took the kids to the pool, no towels were in the box. The night of our stay, there was a Gala going on. We felt very outnumbered in our "street" clothing when going to the main area that evening. Food was few and far between. The restaurant was only offering a buffet, at least that is what we were told by the host when trying to get a table. The pool bar was closing at 6 pm. I told the bartender that we were looking for something that our kids would eat. He put in a to go order and we were able to get food for the kids right as it was closing. The pool area and beach area at the main resort were amazing. We have no complaints about that. The final straw that made me decide to write this review was on the day of checkout, the cleaning service entered our room at 10:20 asking us if they could come in and clean the room. Mid you checkout is at 11 am. I kindly informed the cleaning lady we still had 40 minutes before checkout time. We normally stay on Fort Myers Beach but I wanted to try something else. For what we spent on one night, it defiantly was not worth what we went through as a family. We will take our business back to Fort Myers where we know what type of service we will receive.
