We first went here in 2011 and could not fault it, location, food,views, diving,rooms and service was excellent and hence why we picked this for our return, this time all the above applied apart from the food, oh my how it has dropped in standards, mostly overcooked and hard to chew, the lamb and steak was inedible for us and 90% of the chicken was so dry it was terrible, I can put it into context when I say the burger and chips was the best meal in 10 days and we are not burger and chips people, real shame as the room and island is amazing and so are the staff but the kitchen needs to up its game to get back to the standards we expected from our first visit, unfortunately we will not return to the island because of this. I am really sorry for this review but when you offer a sit down menu you do expect decent food not pre cooked then reheated food whick makes it so tough it's not nice, even the barbecue food was pre cooked then stacked at the side of the barbecue still on heat then thrown back on to warm up further before going on the plate, these are thin strips of meat, cook them when ordered as it would take minutes instead of the shoe leather we got. Breakfast was not great, yes they have fruit but we got bacon twice in 10 days, in it's place for the other 8 days was corned beef mixed with potatoes 🫪 never seen that on a breakfast before all around the world, the omelette station here is a suggestion, please put some seasonings like salt and pepper in the omelette, it makes a world of difference. Yes we love our food on holiday that's why after paying so much I am frustrated with what we got over the 10 days.

Makunudo island resort is quite a unique island resort, designed specifically if you want to keep away from artificial, super luxurious hotels and have a different experience. Pros: - Own coral reef. That means you just need to put a foot on the water and you'll have coral, fish, sharks, turtles, etc. No need to take any boats from the resort. - Staff is super friendly. Not found one member who wasn't happy to see you and happy to be there. - Quietness. It is a fairly small island, with 36 vilas. This will mean that you'll have a very quite and relaxing time. There are no crowds anywhere or anytime. - Island fauna and flora: It's not only the coral and all the fish, which is literally in you vila doorstep, but also the island is nicely taken care and beautifully landscaped. Camaleons, birds, bats, and almost no mosquito! (They do a treatment every other day) Cons: - Food is not bad in quality, quite the contrary, however, there's not a huge variety to choose from, which may be an issue if you stay there for more than 7 days. - Following on the above point, the all inclusive package only encompasses a few drin options from the bar. But that's normal practice. - Some of the activities/excursions are a slightly overpriced. Nonetheless, the guys organising them are all amazing and sure will make them worth it. - Once a month they throw away organic leftovers from the kitchen to the sea, which explains the number of sharks they're nearby. That practice was surprising, considering there's a marine biologist on site. - Coral bleaching is clearly visible. However there's also some new signs of new corals growing. Overall this unique resort, will fit you depending on what you're looking for. If you value quietness, chill environment and most of all, plenty of marine life to observe just next to your room, thenbe ready because this island resort will 100% blow you away.

This is a lovely resort with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complemented by exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. I truly enjoyed my stay and found the overall experience to be very pleasant. The food met good standards, offering satisfying quality throughout. Although the resort is relatively old, it is very well-maintained and exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully arranged, with charming interiors that added to the overall appeal. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a refreshing and relaxing environment that enhances the experience even further. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

Recently visited Makanoodu Island(October)and it was a wonderful experience! The island is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, surrounded by nature's beauty. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, with excellent room service - the staff cleaned our room regularly. The island's natural charm is a major highlight, with its serene atmosphere and stunning surroundings. Plus, it's conveniently located - just a 1-hour boat ride from the airport. We opted for full board and found it sufficient for our needs. The only difference with full inclusive was the inclusion of alcohol, but it wasn't a necessity for us. On the downside, the drinks we ordered were a bit disappointing - even simple drinks like pina colada didn't quite hit the mark. Their Staff(Mr.Milon) attended us at the restaurant all 4 days,he was very friendly and made our dinning experience wonderful Highly recommend Makanoodu Island for a relaxing getaway!"
