Presented as a 5 star hotel, but that wasn't my experience. Staff are doing their best to be fair, so I have no complaints regarding their efforts. But it felt as though they couldn't cope with the amount of people in the hotel. 10 minute queues for breakfast each morning, only to be put in the backroom on a make shift table. 20 minute queues to get a fried egg. And no gluten free bread, or any gluten free option for my partner. The floor we were on felt unfinished, as in, still under construction, maybe it is. Strange that this Intercontinental or a 5 star hotel doesn't offer a place to work other than being charged 110euro for a place that has 3 desks. The gym was okay, but its a third party gym that the Intercontinental is allowed use, so it was incredibly busy. You are given a complimentary drink on arrival, but the bar in lobby doesnt take it, you have to go a different bar, which was fine. Nobody there and my partner couldn't get served. The man completely ignored her, so we just walked out after 5 minutes, to being met with a response of 'goodbye'. The rooms were fine, clean. It was nothing major, just small things that add up, and unfortunately when you pay high prices, you expect quality service.

I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Intercontinental Malta. Our room was simply stunning with gorgeous views as you would expect on the 17th floor. The room was well appointed and everything was of a high quality. We were kept well stocked with water the entire trip as well as toiletries. Without a doubt the hotel experience was made more special by having access to the fabulous club lounge and also staying in a suite which gave us access to the Skybar. The club lounge was very elegant and a calm space to spend time in. The food was also excellent in here and the breakfast was a real highlight being able to sit on the terrace and eat al fresco. The service was second to none in here with everyone being attentive and welcoming. Njambi and Kumar stood out in particular for their level of attention to detail and made our time in the club lounge even more special. For anyone looking at staying at the hotel I would implore you to book a club room as this will really elevate your experience. Overall, the staff were all friendly and offered a high level of service, something which undoubtedly contributed to our experience too. I must also mention one of the doormen, Zion, who was always happy to help including when we asked what Kinnie was and also with helping us to sort out the location for our bolt to pick us up. I can’t wait to return again to the Intercontinental Malta.

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. After staying at another 5-star hotel during my first days in Malta, I was quite disappointed. This place is simply not a real 5-star hotel. Everything feels old and dated. The room was advertised as 40 m², but it definitely wasn’t, it was very small. After speaking with the manager, they did move us to another room that looked more like the pictures and was indeed larger, which I appreciated. We had access to the Opal Lounge, but it wasn’t anything special. Honestly, the breakfast I had at a 2-star hotel in Spain this summer was much better. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the concierge gave us some nice tour recommendations. The gym, as I understood, is a public gym, which is fine, but the entrance is through the indoor pool area a bit strange. If you’re relaxing by the pool, people constantly walk past to get to the gym, which ruins the atmosphere. Overall, I wouldn’t really recommend this hotel. The location is fine, but there are at least ten other hotels nearby that are much cheaper and probably offer a better experience. Also nowhere near the bed to charge your phone.

This place is amazing but the air con is a massive per down. It doesn't blow cold. Always hit regardless of setting, you can't leave balcony open because it's Malta it's busy all night. We had to ask for fans. Edit, I don't think we would ever return here due to the elevator situation. You are frequently waiting upto 15 minutes just to get into a lift. There's 3 lifts for the hotel that reach the floors we require. They are nearly always full. Felt like I spent half my holiday waiting for the elevator just to get into and out of our room. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are beautiful. One of the best IHG I have been to.

We had a lovely family stay at the IHG Malta hotel and really enjoyed our vacation. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, making them ideal for a family stay. Breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of fresh options for everyone. The staff provided friendly, professional service throughout our stay and made us feel very welcome. Overall, it’s a great hotel for both business and leisure travelers, and we would happily stay here again.
