We loved this hotel. Location is great and you get amazing views, but please note it is at the top of a steep hill from the town centre or marina if you have trouble walking. Taxis are cheap though and there are also plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast is great, with omelette station and fried eggs constantly on the go. Pastries, fruit, cheeses and lots of hot meats and veggies and eggs. Gets busy around 9am but is open till 11. The outside pool is plenty big enough and clean and we also spent time on cooler days in the indoor pool. It’s listed as heated but I don’t think it was. The room we had a sea view suite was huge and perfect for our child to be in the living area with a slide door from the main bedroom. Very clean. Huge led screen usually for advertising the hotel and area but we could watch the World Cup which was a nice touch. The spa is also fab, we had 3 massages during our stay. All the staff are lovely. The only reason for the 4 stars on the room is that it needs some refreshing in the bathroom area.

Really nice and clean hotel. Very nice staff. Breakfast was the same every day but very nice food. Stayed here for a few days and would highly recommend it. Couple of draw backs being the gym facilities are not great, not much variety. The swimming pools closed at 6pm, could be extended a hour or so. The foos-ball table needs updating, its very old and unplayable. The location is very good. All in all a very good stay.

Good breakfast, great location, decent rooms, and most of the staff were helpful. Unfortunately, my experience was let down by the restaurant service. I booked a half-board package, and complimentary bottled water was available at breakfast, so I expected water to be available at dinner too. When a waiter asked if I wanted a drink, I requested tap water. He walked away without responding, and after I followed up, he simply said tap water was not available. Instead of offering still or sparkling water, he started clearing our glasses without giving me the opportunity to order another drink. I raised this with Manuel Ribero at the restaurant reception. On the following two evenings, Manuel stopped us before entering to remind us about the dress code. This was surprising because nothing had been mentioned on 27 July, and we saw several other guests dressed the same or very similarly who were not spoken to on either 28 or 29th July. Also none of the other Pestana staff discussed dress code with us demonstrating there was not an issue. The inconsistent enforcement of the dress code felt unfair, uncomfortable and very unprofessional. I also believe water should be provided free of charge at dinner, especially when several complimentary bottled waters are available at breakfast. At the very least, tap water should be made available.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities. Spa, indoor pool, outdoor pools, breakfast area and all shared areas are cleverly designed, well maintained and clean. The staff is lovely and it’s the type of hotel where no one says “no”, they clearly have a 5 star mentality. Breakfast was varied enough, omelettes made on the spot, fresh exotic fruit, Madeira specific foods to try as well as the normal Mediterranean breakfast items. The rooms absolutely need renovation, which I believe they are undergoing at the moment. Bathroom and room itself were not perfect, but they were cleaned and tidied every day. However, with the many many things you can do on this gorgeous island and even in the hotel, you will probably not be spending that much time in the room. Location is perfect for all activities. We didn’t have a car, but had four active days out of 7 and didn’t necessarily miss it. Maybe not a truly luxurious 5 star hotel, but a strong 4 star for the price you pay. I would absolutely come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Pestana Casino Park Hotel. All of the staff were lovely, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The location was perfect, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions all within easy walking distance. The pool was spotless, and there were always sunbeds available, making it easy to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Our balcony was clean, spacious, and had a beautiful view, which we really enjoyed every day. We had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend this hotel!
