I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience. This resort was one of the biggest disappointments of our trip. Based on what was represented to us, we expected a high-quality beach resort. Instead, we found what was, in our opinion, a property that fell well below those expectations. The resort itself appeared poorly maintained and unclean in several areas. The food was consistently disappointing, with limited selection and poor quality. The beach, which should have been the highlight of our stay, was also a major letdown. During our visit, there was a significant amount of seaweed along the shoreline, and we found the beach to be dirty rather than inviting. We were also approached repeatedly by beach vendors while walking outside the resort’s private area, making it difficult to relax. While I understand the vendors are independent of the resort, the overall beach experience was not what we had anticipated. After investing a substantial amount of money in this vacation, we expected accommodations and amenities that matched what had been promised. Unfortunately, this resort did not deliver. Based on our experience, I would not stay here again or recommend it to travelers seeking a premium beach vacation in Zanzibar.

Located on the quieter side of Nungwi Beach, Turaco Resort was the perfect spot for us. The staff were so kind and made our stay super fun and relaxing. We were able to make the most of the daily breakfast and also book tours directly from the resort. Being on the calmer side of Nungwi Beach, you also get to experience a local side of the island away from too many tourist crowds or beach sellers.

Beautiful hotel with excellent customer care We experienced a couple of minor issues during our stay, such as no cold water from the bathroom tap and a telephone that was not working. However, as soon as we spoke with the Customer Manager, everything was addressed and resolved immediately. We also received a lovely gesture from the hotel, accompanied by a thoughtful handwritten message. This made us feel genuinely listened to and cared for. For us, this is what great hospitality is all about: problems can happen, but the way they are handled makes all the difference. Congratulations to the entire hotel team for their professionalism, attention and kindness. A beautiful hotel and a very positive experience overall!

We spent 8 nights at this resort in June 2026 for my husband’s surprise 60th birthday trip, and it truly surpassed our expectations on every level. From the moment we arrived, every staff member welcomed us with genuine warmth. The food was exceptional, with an impressive variety that catered to every culinary preference. The entertainment was outstanding — especially the phenomenal female DJ on Friday evening, who created an unforgettable atmosphere. The birthday celebration arranged for my husband was beyond anything we imagined. The beautiful birthday cake, the heartfelt “Happy Birthday” song, and the blessings shared by Jobe made the moment deeply special. We are profoundly grateful for the care and thought put into every detail, including the incredible surprise room upgrade that made his 60th even more memorable. To the entire team — thank you for giving us the most amazing celebration. We long to return. "hakuna matata"

Let me start off by saying, the resort is ABSOLUTELY stunning, the rooms are beautiful, location was perfect for us. Breakfast options was minimal, there were only two nights where dinner was GREAT. It’s unfortunate that we arrived early hours of the morning, we sent an email when our booking was made, requesting early check -in and explaining our situation (it was told they would best assist us) Service was Pathetic. I’m pretty sure there’s new management. Asif If I’m not mistaken (General manager) is a very entitled man and does not have his guest best interest at heart, It’s unfortunate that the head of management has no people skills nor conflict resolution and it reflects throughout. We arrived and we had to sleep on the beach beds on the beach until 12pm the next day which was unfortunate but we understood. There was absolutely no hospitality, we asked if they could at least give us water and towels to cover us as this was not offered. The front of house team said the next shift of staff would arrive at 8am and around 9am we would be able to check - in, we ended up only checking in at 12pm (there’s much more to mention regarding the service but I’ll be going on forever) After explaining our experience Regina and James(managers) were the best people they truly have people skills as well as conflict resolution. Kudos to them. We were given room upgrades and two complimentary dinners, however at check-out the one dinner was charged in the bill and there was a whole back and forth. None the less it’s not about how beautiful the property is, it’s how you make people feel. Property is stunning, service is pathetic. Rest of the staff is WONDERFUL. However I would not return nor recommend. I’ve worked for Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts and one thing, I’ve learnt and I would like to leave with the Turaco management is - It doesn’t matter how beautiful the place is, people will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.
