🌴 A Truly Memorable Stay at Mercure Kooddoo 🌴 From the moment we arrived, Mercure Kooddoo delivered an unforgettable experience — not just because of its stunning location and serene surroundings, but because of the incredible people who made our stay so special. The resort itself is a slice of paradise. Nestled in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, it offers the perfect blend of barefoot luxury and laid-back charm. Our overwater villa opened directly onto the turquoise lagoon, where we could spot reef sharks and rays gliding by from our deck. The sunsets were nothing short of magical — each evening felt like a private showing of nature’s best work. And the snorkeling? Absolutely phenomenal. The house reef is teeming with life — vibrant corals, schools of parrotfish, curious clownfish, and even the occasional turtle. We could snorkel straight from the beach or our villa, and every dip revealed something new. It’s a dream for anyone who loves the ocean. A huge shoutout to Poppy and Selvakumar in Alita — their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality elevated every meal into a celebration. Whether it was breakfast (and coffee) with a view or dinner under the stars, they made us feel like cherished guests every single time. And let’s not forget Pradeep at the bar, whose friendly charm turned casual drinks into delightful moments. His recommendations were spot-on, and his easygoing nature made the bar feel like the heart of the resort. It’s rare to find a place where the setting and the people are equally exceptional. Thanks to Poppy, SelvaKumar, and Pradeep, our time at Mercure Kooddoo was not just enjoyable — it was extraordinary. Already dreaming of our return

Mercure Koodoo is a lovely traditional adults only Maldives resort. We have visited the Maldives 9 times and visited resorts at all price ranges from Soneva resorts to Fihaholi and this one had the best staff and one of the most vibrant house reefs i have seen. We visited the Maldives before the tsunami and after the tsunami when reefs had been devastated. I understand this reef survived better because it is hard coral. A lively coral garden teeming with fish of every hue. Sharks and turtles with reef mantas. The accommodation is aged, we had a lot of problems. One villa move because a pipe burst and flooded the overwater pool villa. In the new villa the pool pump broke and the wc needed a new part. You will see i have given a good overall star rating because all problems were dealt with rapidly and well by the wonderful staff. I loved the old type overwater villas which reminded us of the very first time we visited White Sands which started our love affair with the Maldives. The restaurants were lovely. The chefs fantastic. A chef from Kandy had noticed i loved Sri Lankan food and she suggested making a traditionally spiced sri Lankan meal just for us. It was wonderful. I have never had such attention before. The bar and waiting staff were universally wonderful with a real attention to knowing your preferences. Special mentions to Pradeep and the bar manager. Also the bartender who again asked one of the chefs to make us a sambal. The bar manager each night warmed our brandy glasses for our evening drink. All little kindnesses. We are both 70 years old and my husband had a lovely massage from Ida who thetefyer ensured he had ice packs for his mobility problems. We were given a golf buggy with driver. Raman was so solicitous and helpful. He was from Bangladesh and had bothered to learn all about the Maldives. I have rabled through our lovely holiday and can only say go and enjoy. Remember the accommodation is older but you are nurtured by the lovingcare of the villa staff. I am sorry i cannot remember the name of our houseman but he made fabulous designs on the bed and looked after us so well.

Holiday at Mercure Kooddoo 29/10/2025 to 13/10/2025 Having visited resorts in the Maldives may times since 1994 this was our first time at a resort that was not the complete island. Also, it was our first domestic transfer and our first time this far south. I must say we were not disappointed. We were met at the airport and escorted through domestic booking and into a lounge to await the transfer. The domestic flight was comfortable and on landing a short buggy ride by Madina took us straight to our room where we were booked in. The Water Villa with Pool was a delight, comfortable, well equipped and kept pristine by our room boy Gillien (probably wrong spelling) Down to lunch with a brief pause at the bar where we were greeted by Gilbert and then into the buffet that was very well presented with a wide range of differing cuisines throughout our stay. Exceptional service by the waiting staff and chiefs throughout, with a special shout out to the playful Shifoo Shahym and all the hard-working team in the restaurants and bars. Interacting with the staff is always a wonderful part of holidaying in the Maldives and we definitely had our stay improved by the friendly welcomes and interesting conversations we had throughout the resort. Snorkelling. With direct access to the edge of the reef we spent many hours admiring the wonderful coral and beautiful fish, turtles and rays. There is a large population of sharks that are quite inquisitive and magnificent to share their domain with but don’t worry, Maldivian sharks eat fish not people. If you are looking for relaxation with good food, drinks and a tranquil holiday we can definitely recommend Mercure Kooddoo.

It is a 1hr flight from Male to get there as it is further in the south, but the reef is amazing. We had an over water bungalow and you can swim directly out to the house reef from the bungalows. Staff were incredible - so friendly and welcoming

We absolutely loved Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort. Beautiful place and when the sun is out in full force, it's the most stunning place on the planet. This is an adults only resort so it's very very peaceful and quiet at all times. The pool overlooks the lagoon, the beach villas lead straight to the soft sandy beach and the water villas hover above the crystal clear waters. Snorkelling here was also fantastic. The drop off and reef is one of the healthiest I've ever seen. We even swam with nurse and black tip sharks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner - chef's kiss. My wife and I played tennis twice a day for 5 days. It was wonderful with the flying foxes soaring above during our sparring sessionss. Many thanks to Raushan who took care of us. Every request was met and fulfilled by Raushan. From tennis court bookings, flight depatures and miscellanous items, Raushan was there for us. Service is definitely a highlight at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort.
