I stayed at the Royalton early June 2026 with my boyfriend and we had the most incredible trip. First, the staff is incredibly sweet! Ricky Mojito at the Score Bar, Munishia from the reservation desk, and Davanette from Hunter steakhouse are the three people that left the best impression on us! When we would walk around the resort the staff would always smile and greet us. I have stayed at many resorts in different countries but this one really takes the cake. This resort had the best food I have ever tasted at an all-inclusive resort as well as the friendliest staff. We loved the cafe which by the way had an incredibly detailed coffee menu, pastries, sandwiches, and ice cream. We loved the pool swim up bar and the fact that the pool overlooked the beautiful beach. Entertainment during the day and night was fun there is also a schedule posted every day with all of the activities. The beach and pools were beautiful and we never had a problem finding a chair. Also, the gym is incredible with a variety of machines, several tredmills, squat racks, etc. I hope that area with the hockey table and basketball gets upgraded because it seems like a fun thing for families to use during the day. Overall, an incredible and memorable experience for us

We recently spent a week at this resort for our honeymoon and we had a fabulous time. We found every staff member to be kind, attentive, and accommodating at every interaction. The resort staff had some sort of activity going on all day, and there was always entertainment at night making it easy to find something to do. The buffet offered a different variety every day for each meal. To us, the Caribbean restaurant offered the best meal. We found the steakhouse to be underwhelming, but that could be due to our personal preferences. The resort itself was clean, well-maintained, and we felt comfortable in all areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and felt that a lot of the negative reviews that can be found about this properly did not reflect our experience.

Our stay at the Royalton Antigua was outstanding from start to finish. The entire team delivers genuine hospitality, and the beach service in particular is phenomenal — attentive, friendly, and always there exactly when you need them. It made every day by the water completely awesome We upgraded to the Overwater Bungalows and it absolutely made the trip. Waking up over the ocean, the privacy, and the views were simply incredible. Quite honestly, it saved us a trip to the Maldives — you get that same world-class overwater experience much closer to home. Everything about the stay felt relaxed and seamless, allowing us to truly enjoy the beauty of Antigua and the resort. A special thank you to General Manager Frederick Sengewitz for leading such an exceptional property, and a big shout out to Donalee, our Diamond Club Manager, who went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable stay. If you’re considering the Overwater Bungalows, do it. You won’t regret it. We will absolutely be back

Extremely Disappointing Anniversary Stay – Not Worth the Price We just returned from our stay and feel compelled to write this review to help other travelers decide if this resort is truly worth their hard-earned money. In our experience, it absolutely is not. The Cons: Check-In & Service: The negative vibe started at arrival. Front desk staff struggled to find our reservation, even after providing the confirmation number twice. Throughout our stay, most staff members seemed unhappy, though a select few were wonderful and clearly loved their jobs. Service overall was incredibly slow; expect to wait a long time or just get things yourself. Room Mix-Up: We booked a King room three months in advance for our anniversary. We were given a room with two Queen beds instead. While I understand King beds aren't always 100% guaranteed, the resort was not full, and a little attention to detail for an anniversary celebration would have gone a long way. Food & Restaurants: The food was a major letdown. The buffet was highly repetitive (mostly pasta, bread, and vegetables with almost no protein) and constantly ran out of basics—including orange juice at breakfast. Despite being in the Caribbean, the fruit selection was basic (apples, oranges, grapefruit) rather than tropical. When dining at the à la carte restaurants, servers would list what they were out of before we even looked at the menu. The Italian restaurant was completely out of all six pizzas on their menu. Drinks: If you enjoy quality cocktails, look elsewhere. There are no drink menus, and the bartenders struggled with simple classics (even a standard martini was undrinkable). The coffee bar was decent but frequently ran out of ingredients. Entertainment: Entertainment was almost non-existent during the day by the pool. Nightly entertainment was just different variations of dancing every night, with the sole exception of a brief, 15-minute fire show which was actually great. The Pros: Cleanliness: If I have to pick one positive, it is that our room was exceptionally clean. The private beach was spectacular!! Basically save your money. For the price this resort charges, the lack of service, food shortages, and poor entertainment are unacceptable.

I would not recommend staying at Royalton Antigua to anyone. For the amount of money this resort charges, the experience was honestly unacceptable from start to finish. Upon arrival, the room was dirty, outdated, and poorly maintained. The AC barely worked, leaving the room humid and damp the entire stay. The sheets constantly felt wet, and if you walked barefoot around the room your feet would literally turn black from how dirty the floors were. The food was even worse. The steakhouse — which is somehow considered one of the main restaurants on the resort — was completely out of almost every steak option, leaving guests with basically one choice… at a steakhouse. After eating there, my entire family became sick with diarrhea. After looking into it further, I found articles from earlier this year reporting food poisoning concerns tied to the steakhouse and buffet due to improper food storage. After our experience, I completely believe it. The lunch options were just as ridiculous. One lunch hut opened at 12 PM and by 12:45 PM they were already out of half the menu. Another lunch spot on the resort we never even got to try because we were told it was “closed due to low census.” Low census? There were 140 people there for our wedding alone, another wedding happening the same weekend, plus a huge work conference taking place at the resort. So where exactly was the lack of guests? And if there supposedly weren’t enough guests, then why was the resort constantly running out of food? The resort advertises 24/7 room service, but that was another disaster. Most of the time, if you ordered food, you waited 2-3 hours for it to arrive — if it arrived at all. There were multiple nights where our orders never came, and the same thing happened to several of our friends staying at the resort as well. And somehow it gets worse — one of my friends ordered a coffee at breakfast and halfway through the cup found an old mummified fly sitting at the bottom of it. Absolutely disgusting. Everything runs on “island time,” but unfortunately the rude and unhelpful staff made the experience even more frustrating. We actually started leaving the resort just to eat because we were starving and tired of getting sick after every meal. The food off the resort was delicious and completely fine, so it’s safe to say the problem is not Antigua — it’s this poorly managed resort. This place desperately needs renovations, competent management, and serious improvements to cleanliness and food safety. A complete waste of hard-earned money and by far one of the worst all-inclusive experiences I’ve ever had.

So the air conditioners in the room couldnt get the temperature below 74F for the entire week... we prefer to sleep around 65F so it was difficult. The mattresses had no pillowtopper or memory foam, just a mattress and a sheet. the bathrooms had no ventilation fans so all that wafted into the bedroom. The toilet and shower water smelled of sewer gas, while the sink water was odor free. The food was better than I would expect for an all inclusive at every single restuarant except for the Rasta beach grill, it was mediocre there. Service was a little slow all around but I think thats a cultural thing that I'm just not used to (I live in the north eastern USA). I would say 75% of the staff were nice and friendly while the remainder clearly didnt want to be there and it showed. I enjoyed the nightly activities centered around the pool bar, the water sports were also alotta fun with quality equipment for kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing. The alcohol and drink quality was quite good, when they had the good stuff in stock. About 1/3rd of the time they had "run out" of the English Harbor rum. A group of 4 of us won an "all expense paid trip to the verandah" but after all the fees it ended up costing us 6.8k in the end... I wouldnt come back here, not for the price which I dont think lines up with the quality and service of this place.

My husband and I stayed at The Verandah for 7 nights. We have stayed at many all all-inclusive properties in multiple countries is the past and The Verandah exceeded our expectations! The property is big so you never feel crowded at the beaches or pools. Towels were plentiful. There was not any additional charge for kayak or sailboat rentals. Staff was absolutely lovely and helpful. Food was terrific and never boring as they varied the menus. We ate at many of the spots around the property, and everything was great. The food and service at Nicole’s Restaurant (which has a upcharge) rivaled any fancy restaurant; my lamb chops were outstanding! Bars had good quality alcohol and call liqueurs - no skimping here. They even have a 24x7 coffee house. We had a lovely vacation and hope to return next year. We highly recommend The Verandah. You will not be disappointed.

The Verandah Resort is a beautiful 30-acre property with great pools and private beaches. We loved walking to Devil’s Bridge and the path to Long Bay. While a majority of the staff were kind, the service range is extreme; some were indifferent, and a few on the Beach Grill team were quite unfriendly. Dining logistics were a task to navigate. The buffet is usually closed for lunch, and schedules often didn't match reality. Breakfast opens at 7:30, making 8:00 AM excursion pickups stressful since you aren't actually eating until 7:45. Tip: The balcony chairs are too short to see over the railing; bar-height chairs would fix the view! We loved kayaking the cliffs, and animal lovers should bring food and treats for the many sweet resort cats roaming around. It’s a lovely spot, but service consistency and dining rigidity need work to make it more pleasant.

The beach at this hotel is lovely, located in a nice bay there is no seaweed and is beautiful. The hotel is clean and the buffet area is clean and very nice compared to other resorts. The rooms themselves are clean! But definitely need some upgrades. The light under my counter didn't work, several outlets didn't work, the gaps were the door were significant. The resort is quiet and there are only a few restaurants, so if you like variety or are staying for a longer period this may not be the best.

Our experience was very different from that which people who gave poor reviews had. The staff were, without exception, friendly. A special mention goes out to Theodore the waiter and Tristan the buggy driver. The house keeping was excellent. Our room was serviced every day and it was spotless. The food was delicious. Our favourite restaurant was Sails and Tails, although Portofino was pretty good too. The food at the beach grill was a bit ordinary, but nothing actually wrong with it. We did pay $50pp to dine in Nicole's one evening but the food wasn't any better than the other restaurants mentioned earlier. Getting your first drink served to you could be a bit slow sometimes, but not always. Overall dining here was an enjoyable, tasty experience that we always looked forward to. The grounds are well kept and the ground staff were keen to explain what they were doing if you stopped to talk to them. There are plenty of facilities to play various games if you want to stray away from the beach at some point. On reflection it was not perfect and perhaps the room was a bit tired and the restaurants lacked a bit of character, but very few places are perfect and overall the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We are considering coming back next year.

Stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days with my partner. Staff was friendly, room was very clean and our butlers Coniah and Bishop were great, very attentive and responded to our needs fast. I would recommend this resort to a couple looking for a relaxing location on the beach. However, the resort was out of a lot of things and does not have many options for people who are sober besides juice and coffee. Every restaurant we went to they were out of many items, our rooms were not restocked everyday with water and sodas even though we were told it would be, especially for diamond club. For the price you pay they should do a bit more to make sure everything is fully stoked. The beach was lovely but a lot of fish that swim into you. Overall the resort was clean, staff was welcoming but they need to do a bit more with guest satisfaction.

Jan 31-Feb 10th stayed in Overwater water bungalow. Room was great! Perfect for relaxing and watching everything from your own private deck, that you jump right into the ocean and with infinitely pool. Disappointment was hammock was broken. But great location you can sit and relax or it's just a short walk to other pools and bars with more going on. Butlers were good and helpful with dinner, excursions, etc but I wish I didn't have ask them every day to restock bar and snacks or ice for room. Food and entertainment I thought was good. Was not impressed with special over water dinner location that you had to pay extra. We have traveled to 7 other caribbean islands and find this was one of our top locations but it was also more expensive but wife and I really enjoyed. Few issues, said transfer to and from airport was included but we ended up paying for a taxi to and from the airport! The other thing was at the entrance was this lighted sign with music playing and young girls in leather outfits that didn't cover much dancing around sign! Sorry but reminded me of some late 80's strip club girls girls! Didn't give me the impression we were going to 5 star hotel.

But the true crown jewel is the beach. It is absolutely stunning, with calm, crystal-clear turquoise waters that make swimming an absolute dream. ​Dining, Drinks & Entertainment ​When it comes to food, you are spoiled for choice. Whether you want to grab a quick, delicious bite by the water or sit down for a sumptuous, beautifully prepared meal, the culinary options are fantastic and highly varied. ​The beverage program is equally impressive. We spent a lot of our time at the swim-up bar, where the bartenders mix up excellent, high-quality drinks with a side of great conversation. Our 5-day stay at Royalton CHIC Antigua was unfortunately one of the most disappointing resort experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was chaotic and poorly managed. There was little communication, long wait times, and no sense of urgency from staff to resolve issues. After traveling, this was not the welcome we expected from a resort marketed as premium and adults-only luxury. The issues continued throughout our stay. We experienced multiple power outages — some lasting over an hour — which disrupted dinners, evening routines, and even sleep. There was minimal communication during these outages. No proactive updates. No reassurance. Guests were left in the dark — literally and figuratively. Room service was equally frustrating. Calls often went unanswered. When orders were taken, they were significantly delayed or incorrect. On more than one occasion, we had to follow up multiple times with no clear resolution. For a resort of this price point, basic service standards were not met. The overall attitude of many staff members felt dismissive and unprofessional. While we encountered a few polite individuals, consistency in hospitality was lacking. There seemed to be little accountability or urgency in addressing guest concerns. What makes this especially disappointing is that the property itself has potential. The aesthetics are beautiful. However, the operational failures, poor communication, repeated power disruptions, and lack of customer service made this stay far below expectations. Given the premium pricing, we expected a seamless luxury experience — not constant inconveniences and service breakdowns. Management seriously needs to address these operational and customer service issues. Until then, I would not recommend this resort.

I traveled with 5 of my bridesmaids for my bachelorette trip. Half of us stayed in what was supposed to be an upgraded Diamond Club room. The day of check in, they did not get access to their room until 9PM. They were given a hospitality room with a sink and shower and forced to shower and change. When they complained and requested compensation for the inconvenience, they were only offered a bottle of alcohol which we all felt was not sufficient. The best place to eat on the resort is Haven Grill. The steakhouse was very mid and bland. I liked my lasagna at the Italian restaurant but some of the girls did not like their food. The chicken wings in the sports bar were also really good and the female bartender in there made the best drinks on the resort (ask for a passionfruit martini). The spa was also beautiful. Julissa did my 80 minute Hot stone massage and it was perfect. The hydrotherapy pools were also complimentary when you book a spa service. The resort does provide daily entertainment, however, it caters to Caucasian tourists. My friends and I are all of Caribbean descent and were disappointed with the quality of entertainment for our demographic. The staff members who made and served our drinks at the various bars around the resort really made our stay memorable : Yoan, Courtney, Adrian and Marlon went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and our cups were never empty.

The trip was great! We have been to other all-inclusive resorts and really appreciated how the staff made it such a fun and relaxing stay! I was so grateful for JT one of the photographers, to capture such a special time for my husband and I! His photos were beautiful, but more than that he was just a fun person to interact with that made the trip unique. The food was great! The weather was awesome! Would definitely go back!

They work hard to make things perfect. Sandals Resorts just knows how to make vacations easy. This is a beautiful resort with amazing gardens. The original resort is on Caribbean side and the newer resort is on the Mediterranean side. Both are very nice and have different things to offer. The resort is large and so walking is great. We got a lot of steps in! The beach is stunning with powdery white sand and warm water. I had read that people found public beach was difficult because of people selling stuff. They would try to invite us to look, but it was a feature for us that we enjoyed. (NOt a negative.) The people on the beach were friendly and kind. Snorkeling in the water right off the beach didn't have as many fish as we've seen at other Sandals resorts. If you want to snorkel, go to water-sports and let them take you to better viewing spots. We found the resort to be spotless and well maintained. The food quality and flavors are excellent and the staff is amazingly friendly and good at what they do. We adore Rochelle at the Barefoot Restaurant. She was delightful And took great care of us. The main pool was active, but not too loud. The pool entertainment staff were fun and great at keeping things engaging. Sailboats were fun. There was good wind for sailing, but it wasn't blustery on the resort. The gym was clean and updated with nice equipment, free weights and floor exercise equipment.

We spent a wonderful six nights at Sandals Antigua. Highlights: —Our butlers, Sefra, Marvin, and Geoffrey, went above and beyond to make sure we had a special and relaxing vacation. They even decorated our room for my husband’s birthday! We’ve had butler rooms at several Sandals and this was an exceptional team. —The beach in Dickerson Bay had beautiful, calm water. The beach itself is long and great for walking, and the water was perfect for activities like the hobie cats. —Teddy at Kimono’s was a spectacular chef, and Mickory made great eggs and omelettes at breakfast —Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the water, probably the best view we’ve had at any Sandals —The antipasto buffet at Mario’s was absolutely delicious Possible improvements: —If you’re used to the more modern Sandals resorts, the furniture and decor at this one is more dated. We didn’t mind it but it’s something to keep in mind. I think renovations are planned. —While the food generally was as good as or better than other Sandals, we didn’t think the desserts were very good. —I wish there were non-pork protein options at breakfast (like chicken sausage), and that there was more variety in the breakfast buffet, which basically was the same every day. —It would be helpful to have an ATM onsite to make tipping easier

We had an amazing 2 week holiday celebrating my mums 60th birthday. Although we found the rooms were a little tired, the staff, location and gardens/grounds far outweighed this! The staff were great and in the main extremely friendly and chatty. All our Bulters Kevin, Larissa and Dylan were fantastic, particularly Larissa who didn’t forget a thing. Other particularly great staff we met: Genieve Angeline Akilah Jernesia Violet Cesar in kimonos chef Krishna from management Ja moi - photographer Kadeem - barman There were a few exceptions, receptionists (apart from the lovely lady that had worked at Sandals 25+ years), cafe du paris, omelette station chef in mornings (both restaurants) and the watersports team that sat on the beach. Massages were very expensive but very good Gym was best hotel we’ve been too. Food was very good but not exceptional. Some of the entertainment started a little late and we were too tired to watch! Room lacked TLC and needed a refresh, some of the corners etc needed a scrub but otherwise very clean and comfortable and much better than we had expected from reviews and photos online! Loved having all fhe extra towels. Pools were lovely, pickleball courts great. Music was a little too loud for us at the pools. We loved the cats and cat cafes Disappointed there was no motorised watersports (not clear on website) Overall we had a brilliant stay and would recommend and return on basis of staff and grounds. The Grande Antigua is a beautiful hotel with fantastic staff who are very friendly, very knowledgeable and very, very helpful. Every member of staff is always smiling and looking to help you at all times. The facilities are excellent with the most amazing beach. The food at all the restaurants is very varied and always excellent. I would unreservedly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. My wife and I are already planning to return and we have only been here a couple of days!

A fantastic experience for our honeymoon. We are so glad we chose Blue Waters. We went during off season (September) so can only imagine how beautiful and lively the hotel is during peak season. We had fantastic service, particularly from Nathaneale at the pool bar, Alex the bartender, the brilliant meal staff Takeshi, Daniela, and Sheddy! Woody the cook also made us feel really welcome on the island, Nichole the manager was fantastic. And I must recommend a massage from Shanna - it was out of this world! It was an incredible experience, and we missed it when we left. The rooms are beautiful and very romantic, the pools are so clean. - and they do a great job managing wildlife and bugs. The food is honestly such high standard, clean and well presented. Great portions and you get great value for your money in the quality. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with relaxing atmosphere and a cold flannel and a gorgeous refreshing cocktail. Then you are taken to your room in a buggy and it is all very seamless. The beaches are genuinely private and you don’t have people selling you anything- they do have services such as jet ski you can do but they are so relaxed and you go to them! This was a complete polar opposite to the experience we had on the other side of the island, this is real luxury and we wish we never left. We will never forget this place and we hope to visit again some day.

Our expectations were exceeded at this magnificent resort! We have traveled all over the Carribean for 42 years and this was the best place we’ve ever been. Named Blue Waters for the most beautiful views of blue water. The entire staff are exceptional and every single one goes the extra mile. 100% quality, customer service. They greet you by name and always ask how they can help or if you need anything. The dining experience is phenomenal and the chefs prepare and present it all with a smile. Each meal was better than the prior one. Rachel and Sparkle, Keva and Derah always greeted us at The Palm. Tramaina, the bartender at the pool made the best Pinacolada anywhere, Rocky and CJ were great watersports guides. Jefferson, Christopher, Devon and Violet at the front of the house and reception could assist with almost anything. The management team, especially Nicole, should be commended for their leadership. I had a medical problem my second day and they brought in Dr Leslie from the medical center to my room. We will return next year with our whole family. Thank you!

Our stay at blue waters in Antigua was already beautiful, but Mellesha truly made it unforgettable. From the very first interaction, she radiated warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. She went above and beyond at every opportunity, always with a smile and an incredibly positive attitude. Such a lovely, sweet girl. Mellesha has a rare gift for hospitality you don’t just feel helped, you feel truly welcomed and valued. She was so attentive and handled everything with grace and efficiency. No request was too big or too small, and she made every moment feel effortless and special. Thank you again to all the lovely staff!

Blue waters resort is beautiful. Amazing location, impeccably maintained grounds, and cool adobes. However, I highly recommend staying elsewhere. All of Antigua’s major resorts have beautiful settings without the high price tag. The service at this resort is no where near worth what we paid. The food service was slow and frustrating on most occasions, particularly when we had to wait 15 minutes just to get some water after sitting down, which was a repeated occurrence. The food was unimpressive and had no variety day to day. The meals and drinks were quite expensive. Again, not an issue if the service is high quality. But Blue Waters is attempting to charge 5 star prices for 3 star quality and service. It was impossible to get a reservation at the Cove restaurant which was not communicated to us beforehand, as we would have been happy to make a reservation in advance of our stay. The Reef restaurant closed early at least once (before posted hours), leaving us with a chunk of time before the Palm restaurant opened during which we could not get any food. Though the receptionist / greeter asked for our allergies upon arrival, we were served food with the allergen without any warning or caution. Room service was also frustrating. We asked for some drinks to be sent to the pool by our village, and we were ensured that someone come by shortly to serve us. No one ever showed up. The shower door did not close. We also ordered a golf cart to the room which never came to pick us up. Our massage time slot was changed day of with no heads up. The resort convenience shop was closed when we needed shaving cream and sunscreen, and the front desk staff did not have these supplies on hand. We asked the front desk to provide an alternative way to purchase these supplies, and were assured the owner would be back with the keys shortly. That never happened. We unfortunately missed a beach day. To top this all off, there was a stray hair on a drink’s garnish at the poolside bar. Lastly, multiple locals told us this resort is known for having mostly British guests. This is not an issue. Just noting that the expectations are likely adjusted based on tipping culture. This likely explains the raving reviews online. Altogether, the experience was underwhelming and not up to our expectations. Beautiful Island though.

Fantastic week at Blue Waters covering the period after xmas and New Year. Wonderful location, feels very secluded and peaceful. Great facilities, more than enough to do to keep my teenagers busy for a week - particularly enjoyed the kayaking and paddleboard and had great fun on our boat tour where we visited the turtles at Bird Island. Rooms are great, nicest I have had in Carribean - very spacious and well appointed. Food was fantastic - enjoyed all 3 restaurants and the variety on offer across the menus. Wish we could have stayed longer….

We spent five wonderful nights at Carlisle Bay Antigua, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we arrived until our final lunch, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and relaxed. We stayed in a beautifully designed Ocean Suite, which was spacious, modern, and offered stunning views of the bay. The housekeeping team was attentive, ensuring our suite remained immaculate throughout our stay. The beach is impeccably maintained, with quick and friendly service right to our loungers. We spent a week at Carlisle Bay in mid-April. We literally came to Antigua, let alone the Carlisle, after reading reviews of their Tennis Program. It did not disappoint. Nigel Anthony was a fantastic, engaging coach and drill sergeant. While the tennis facilities and equipment are in dire need of upgrades, the instruction was first-rate and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Nigel and the Carlisle if you are looking for a resort with a great tennis program. The rest of our visit to Carlisle was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall very enjoyable. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurants to housekeeping, were all very well-educated, friendly, and engaging. I can not say enough positive things about them. The food at all four on-site restaurants was very good, with just the right amount of variety to get you through a week. The all-inclusive was definitely the way to go. The activities/excursions, whether free or fee-based, were all very good. In addition to the tennis, we enjoyed a couple of stunning hikes, took the kayaks out, and went snorkeling. Like the rest of the resort staff, those who helped us with those activities were all awesome. Our room was nice, #311, up on the 3rd floor, so we earned our steps daily, which was fine for us. IT was quiet and afforded us great views of the bay and Montserrat when the skies were clear. The beach is nice and calm, not as stunning as other beaches on the island, but wonderful nonetheless. While the resort was fully booked, it never felt that way, especially on the beach. Pro tip - while they discourage you from reserving a lounge chair on the beach, if you don't do it, you will be relegated to the 2nd row. By 7:00 or 7:30 am, most of the lounge chairs closest to the water had personal items on them, reserving them for the day. It is a self-proclaimed family-friendly resort. We have 4 grandkids, so we know and love kids, but we do also expect parents to do their job managing them. There were a lot of younger children at the resort while we were there, and unfortunately, their parents were too busy on holiday to look after them. We called them free-range children, and it very much took away from our experience at 3 of the 4 restaurants on site, the 4th being Adults Only, which was by far our best experience. The best example I can give you is the 3 or 4-year-old boy allowed to roam around their restaurant on the beach, including him dropping his pants to his ankles, peeing on the beach no more than 10 feet from our table ( we know he did this on multiple days, sharing our story with others who had seen the same behavior on other days). His parents did nothing and honestly were not paying any attention to him at all. If you want a quiet, couples retreat, this is not the place for you. Overall, we had a great stay at the Carlisle Resort; the tennis made it for us, but the resort itself, short of the free range children, was great, albeit at a premium price.

Stayed in one of the newly renovated ocean view rooms. Fabulous. Staff were wonderful. Breakfasts outstanding. The Jetty and Indigo were on the most part excellent. East and Ottimo were disappointing. The staff in East not up to the same standard as elsewhere in the resort and the food pretty uninspiring apart from the dynamite shrimp. Ottimo had the most unusual chairs/ table set up which made eating uncomfortable. The food offering was average at best, and again service not on par with other areas of the resort. Housekeeping was inconsistent and apart from not having our room serviced one day (this was rectified on the same day/evening) I constantly had to request more shower gel and other toiletries. Most disappointing. Finally, the forensic checking of our bill at the end of the holiday. There appears to be a problem with the accounting system, keying of information as despite photographing each signed receipt spurious amounts appeared on my bill. Happy to say these were resolved eventually but this shouldn't be the case and taints the experience at the end of your holiday. Notwithstanding the above on reflection I hadl a fantastic stay and I would recommend this resort.

Another year and the entire family is grateful for another incredible break at Carlisle Bay. We cannot begin to thank the team enough and the thanks began even before we took flight. The reservations team provided an incredible and seamless booking experience, but we realised that we had I overlooked a document issue prior to departure. Without going into details, the team at CB were able to find a seamless resolution that they really weren't obliged to pursue. This is just a snapshot of just how dedicated, professional and passionate the team at CB are when it comes to delivering an incredible experience. The staff who took such incredible care of our family last year welcomed us with open arms, remembering some of our preferences and both our children's names. Our little two-year-old, ineligible last year, couldn't wait for Kid's Club, but on the first day cried herself to sleep. We received a call and were informed of the situation; we chose to go and pick her up and when we did, saw her asleep in Kerri-Anne's arms. From her second visit on, she was at home and never wanted to leave when it was pickup time. Turtle watching, adventure walks, tennis and tie-dye t-shirts, the activities are endless and captivating for kids. We cannot overstate the significance of this trip for our family; we looked forward to the beautiful bay, the beach and seeing all the friends we made the year before. Michael the sommelier who always greets you with a smile and an incredible wealth of knowledge if you're looking to pair a wine with the incredible menu dishes; Georgier, Shantez, Audacia, Kate, Irwin, Michael and the wonderful team at Indigo. There are too many to list. Genuinely kind, passionate and professional indvidials who come together to give you what you came on holiday for. That's different for different guests and CB offer a tailored experience based on the given circumstances and requirements. The grounds are meticulous and even after a short time, you see the effort and time that goes into maintaining the facilities. Everything is manicured, beautiful and everything works. It was beautiful last year, but this year even moreso with a tasteful refurb that just elevated the overall experience. The water sports options have been extended and this year I got back into my tennis with Nigel. What a gem. What a patient technician. After a dozen years, I'm back home more relaxed, with a golden tan, and a smooth back and forehand. On the flight back, our little girl started crying and said that she was upset that we were leaving Antigua. A beautiful island indeed, and the team at CB ensure that you are happy to arrive and somehow turns out that you're a little melancholy to leave the place and people. Quite aside from all the aforementioned reasons to return, I am resigned to the fact I have to go back with the entire family with the selfish pursuit of a 'serve' to complement my backhand. Beyond highly recommended. Thank you Len, Toma, Shemel, Tony, Larry, Conrad, Tonya and Brian. Can't wait to see you all again

Visited the beach which was nice and secluded. Was told that all the beach is free and walked across the steps to the hotel with no issue, Very nice beach. Beaches hopped to Darkwood and found a roadside local food stop which did everything and had my best meal in Antigua so far 😜

I have been to this resort twice. In full disclosure, it was 20 years between trips. I didn’t see much change in the resort. The rooms were dated but in good conditions. The bathrooms are large and lovely. The grounds are very well kept. The beach is just okay. It appears bleak to me. I have been to many other islands and resorts that are much lovelier all around. The water isn’t as clear, nice or warm as on other islands. The food is good but they tend not to want to accommodate requests outside of allergies and for the cost, my expectation would be “let me see what I can do.” The management staff is fine - nothing to write home about. Lastly, there has been an unusual amount of people, who have died there or while on the island. I have never encountered that sad but oddity any other place that I traveled. I would be cautious before traveling to this island/resort, in my opinion. Hope this is helpful.

We had to walk out of this hotel half way through our holiday. We found the manager and MD charmless. The hotel fell well below ( recently acquired) Relais Chateaux standards to our mind. It was the 3rd Relais Chateaux hotel we have visited this year and we usually stay at 5 or 6 of them every year. We chose it for the RC name and were sorely disappointed. The front desk was a place to avoid unless Zain and Carl were on duty. They were full of smiles and engaging and keen to help but otherwise the staff there would often ignore the guest's greeting. The facilities and location are great, the Spa well run and friendly. The waiters in the main restaraunt were charming and hard working. Danny runs his male team with humour and kindness and goes out of his way to look after the guests. Jackiel Benn, Hendred, Africa, the wonderful Brian ( at the Beach restaraunt, who was the only reason we did not leave on the first day, sadly and incredulously, was then moved to the back office!) and Glocester were all fab. Henry looked after our room and was engaging, efficient and friendly. Have to say the ocean front room were out dated though the bathroom had been modernised. We had no glass in the windows so the aircon leaked out through the shutters. The bed had a ridge in the middle the linen and pillows were not of good quality. The sinks and toilet did not drain properly. The matting was grubby as was the sheer modesty curtain ( the curtain is much needed as there is a footpath outside uour balcony used by staff and guests so privacy is hard) The chef Chrisoph was good and helpful but i think still the hotel could offer more variety for a RC hotel. The lunch offering resembled a school or office canteen despite the lovely setting. Dinner at the beach is handled by the efficient Auslando but you can not disguise the fact that there is just a curtain dividing the beach bar from the restaraunt and more staff are needed there. The diving team are friendly but too keen to cancel a dive. This happened 4 times in 6 days. The rive team seem to think that if only 1 guest wants to dive then it is not worth doing it. They are inflexible on timing or on offering a beach dive if it is too choppy to go to the reef by boat. If you are a serious diver you need to book with an outside provider. The pool staff were always late and unhelpfulat the afult pool. I think a good example of what it is like to be a guest, is illustrated when i asked the front desk for the room to be cleaned. I explained my husband would need the room in just over 1 .5 hrs and asked if we could just get a quick clean before 10.00 AM. I returned to the room at 10 to 10 to find it had not been cleaned. So i called reception again and asked if someone was still coming to clean it. The curt reply i got was " It is 9.56"! This says it all. In most hotels the member of staff would be reprimanded or even lose their job but in this hotel it was deemed ok. I complained to the manager directly and by email and she never deigned to reply to my email...which is just rude. We brought all issues to her attention and she did introduce us to the chef and bring a fan to our room but then was "off" and gave us no contact info or any one else to contact if problems persisted. She had twice "cut us dead" when we greeted her and the " arrival welcome" was pittiful. We were left to get our cases out despite 3 staff members being in the area. We should have listened to our instincts then and got back in the cab. We checked with other guests and 3 different couples felt the same as us. Though there are many guests who return every year... i have to wonder if they have low expectations or do not like exploring what else is on offer.

Beautiful location once inside and the rooms are immaculate. However……The food is the worst we have ever had. The drinks that are included don’t include any cocktails you might know but merely their ‘special blends’. Ice cream sundaes are scoops of ice cream with nothing else. No bananas or mangos (we are in Antigua!?). This might be ok for some people if you’re used to package holidays but if you’re British it falls WAY below standard. The female local staff have severe attitude problems too. Entertainment was lovely but we were starving.

‘And relax’ Curtain Bluff is the perfect vacation stop. The Carribean is hard to top, but the cherry on the cake is always visiting this wonderful time-machine of a hotel, that somehow manages to make you feel instantly relaxed. If you’re looking at staying at one of the best hotels in Antigua, you will not be disappointed. It’s a high quality all-inclusive hotel that makes a huge effort and its private ownership stems a sophisticated approach to all of its guests and many friends.

If you like small quiet resorts, this is the place for you from a time you pull up to the front of the resort you were greeted with smiles and respect. The beaches were amazing the rooms immaculate the infinity pool overlook the ocean spectacular view the food, unbelievable, wine tasting even better!! Can’t wait to go back.
