Definition of luxury. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Check-in was smooth and our room was upgraded to a suite! Breakfast was a massive buffet with lots of choices. The pool was great, not crowded and very relaxing. We had an early flight out and the staff even arranged for us to have a breakfast box! Overall I would highly recommend staying here!

Our stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru was magical from beginning to end. The highlight of our week was Thursday night's Malam Kampung Seafood BBQ Buffet out on the lawn — sizzling fresh seafood, local Sabah favourites, and a truly unforgettable cultural show that included the Magunatip bamboo dance of the Murut people, a traditional blowpipe (sumpit) performance, and a stunning fire dance under the stars. It felt like a celebration of Sabah itself. What made it even more special was meeting Mr Abdul Majid, Senior Manager of F&B, and Executive Chef Rohizan Ramli. Both greeted us with the warmest smiles and you can see, in every detail of the evening, the passion and pride they put into their work. That leadership flows down through the entire team — every staff member we met was genuine, attentive, and went the extra mile. Add the iconic Tanjung Aru sunset, the gorgeous pools, the lush gardens, beautiful rooms and the most heartfelt service — and you have a five-star experience in every sense. Best quality. Best service. Best experience. We'll be back very soon!

Had a very pleasant stay here today. All staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the senior parking assistant/bellboy for the warm welcome and buggy service to our room. Also thanks to staff handling the buggy service for being very helpful and polite, even when we returned around 12am from nearby shops. During breakfast, the lady staff was very friendly and always smiling. The manager in charge on was also very welcoming and kind. Checkout was fast and smooth as well. Overall, very happy with the stay and definitely will come again.

From the moment we arrived, Velinda Ismail and Jenny from the Front Office made us feel genuinely welcomed. Their warm hospitality, attentiveness, and thoughtful approach throughout our stay truly stood out and elevated our overall experience. Both Velinda and Jenny consistently went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, always anticipating our needs with professionalism and genuine care. Their dedication and kindness did not go unnoticed and made our stay especially memorable. We are deeply grateful for everything they did for us and truly appreciate the high level of service provided. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Shangri-La Tanjung Aru and would gladly return in the future.
Whity
Our entire stay was very satisfying. Check-in and check-out were efficient, and the room was spacious and clean, with high-quality, minimalist amenities and a balcony facing the sea. Although there was construction going on right in front, they upgraded our room as an apology—so no complaints there. Breakfast was served as a buffet at a beachfront restaurant called Ta-Tu, offering a well-balanced mix of local dishes and classic Western options. I especially liked the cheerful barista at the entrance serving local coffee—it was a nice touch. There’s also an on-site marina where you can enjoy activities like jet skiing and paragliding, which made the stay even more fun.
