The best part of the resort was its location - next to a beautiful and clean marina. The beach is full of fascinating fish swimming up next to you. And e-hailings to town were cheap (6-8 ringgits). But this was NOT a 5 star hotel that is comparable to, say, the Shangri La in the same town. As others have mentioned, the facility and the room were outdated. The pool was dirty and full of bandages and other people's stuff. The beach, which had many great looking reef fish, has some nasty garbage, including rusty nails which came from the deck and not from the ocean (we picked some up and threw them into the garbage). What made the experience worse was the guests that this hotel seemed to be attracting. They were rude and completely lack the awareness of other people's space. Breakfast buffet was like a wet market where people compete for food and fruit, then ate in the most obscene way possible. Doors were slammed constantly from 6am to mid night. Then there was the 9pm to 12am singing performance in the lobby, which was unnecessary, cringy, and disrupts sleeps. Sadly, and understandably, the staffs were unfriendly (possibly due to the type of customers they had to deal with constantly).

Large, clean resort with friendly and attentive staff. The facilities were well maintained, and overall the stay is enjoyable. However, the hotel seems to miss some of the finer details that you would expect from a resort of this standard. One experience that particularly disappointed me was at the Al Fresco Bar. I ordered a premium, expensive whiskey to take back to my room for a nightcap, only to have it served in a plastic cup—the type you might expect for a child's ice cream. Considering the quality and price of the whiskey, this felt completely inappropriate. I politely asked the bartender if it could be poured into a proper glass, but he refused, stating it was hotel policy. While this may seem like a small issue, attention to detail is what separates a good resort from a great one. Serving a premium spirit in a plastic cup significantly detracts from the experience. Overall, a pleasant stay, but this was a disappointing end to the evening and something management should reconsider.

ROOM NO 7243 Check in 4/6/26 First, the reception takes too long to register. Its takes 20 minutes one customer, and only 2 receptuon at the time. From 3pm, 3.30 we manage to settle in our room. Secondly, the telivision resolution is so baddddd! we hardly can watch the movies. This is a resort, even a 2 star hotel provide smart tv with netflix. we can still tolerate with the chanel, but its blurry, BERNAMA chanel no sound, KOREAN CHANEL stuck. Even the remote control program button not functioning. We made a complaint at the reception but still the same, and there is no report from them also. The reception did mention the resort is now in the progress to change all TV's, understood but at least give us a room with good tv. There are thousand of room, definetely there is one with decent one. We stay and pay a lot for comfort, not all want to go there to swim or sunset stroll, sometimes we juat want to chill at the bed and watch tv. Staff at Al-Fresco super nice House Keeping is so accomodating.

I recently stayed at The Magellan Sutera Resort for 4 days and 3 nights due to a family emergency, and overall it was a very pleasant stay. For the price paid, the room and service were very good. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout the stay, which made a stressful trip a bit easier. I also really appreciated the welcome drinks on arrival—a small touch, but it sets a nice tone when you first check in. One highlight was definitely the breakfast. The selection is great and rotates daily, so even staying a few days you don’t feel like you’re eating the same thing every morning. There were plenty of options to choose from, which made starting the day enjoyable. The only downside during the stay was the WiFi. The connection itself can be okay once you’re in, but the login process isn’t very user-friendly. The login page sometimes takes quite a while to load, and there were moments when the connection would disconnect and require logging in again. Improving this would really enhance the guest experience. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with good value, friendly service, and excellent breakfast options. With a smoother WiFi system, it would easily be a full 5-star experience. Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐

I am extremely disappointed with my check-in experience. The entire process was far from smooth and did not meet the expectations I had for a hotel of this standard. We experienced multiple delays, poor communication, and had to repeatedly follow up with the front desk ourselves. What made the experience even more frustrating was that although our family faced the same check-in issues and delays, only my sister’s room was upgraded. Meanwhile, we were assigned a twin-bed room despite having specifically booked and requested a king-bed room. This felt unfair and inconsistent. After raising the issue, we were informed that a replacement room would be ready by 6:00 PM. However, we did not receive the new room until approximately 7:50 PM, almost two hours later than promised. During this time, we had to continuously follow up on the status ourselves. To make matters worse, we were unable to reach the front desk using the room phone, as the line was constantly inaccessible. As a result, I had to use my own mobile phone to make multiple calls just to get updates on the room change. While the issue was eventually resolved, the repeated delays, lack of communication, and the amount of effort required from us throughout the process left a very negative impression. What should have been an enjoyable and relaxing stay became unnecessarily stressful. To be honest, I regret choosing to stay at Sutera Harbour for this trip. Based on the experience we had today, the service fell far below my expectations and was certainly not the level of hospitality I anticipated from a resort of this reputation. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me feeling that the money spent on this stay was not justified by the level of service we received. For the price paid, I expected a much smoother and more professional experience.
