I visited Cape Verde for the first time and stayed in Ourill Hotel for one week. The hotel is located very close to the beach, restaurants, pharmacy, bank, local shops and hospital. On my second day, I went surfing and I broke my foot. Each staff member was EXTREMELY helpful and took care of me. My room was on the second floor but they swapped my room to the ground floor. They helped me to take my suitcase down, gave me ice to cool down my swelling, brought coffee and water to the pool. They also helped me with carrying my breakfast to the table in the restaurant. Everyone I met was super helpful, made my stay more enjoyable and safe. Super friendly and professional people. I am definitely coming back to this hotel soon!

The hotel is in need of a good renovation. Breakfast is repetitive, no change for the 9 days been there. Location is just 4 minutes away from main street and very nice beaches. Pool is decent. Rooms are big and bed sheets are clean. Towels are not always the cleanest. Only big advantage is its location. Personel is nice and helpful.

**Very disappointing stay – multiple issues throughout** Unfortunately, our stay was affected by a series of problems. On arrival, our room had a strong damp smell, did not appear properly cleaned, and still contained an empty toiletry bottle from previous guests. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable, with springs clearly noticeable through the mattress. On the second day, our room was not serviced and we had to request cleaning from reception, which delayed our plans. That evening, we discovered cockroaches in the bathroom and had to request a room change. There was also an uncovered drainage hole which appeared to provide access for insects. After moving rooms, we were not given a key for the safety deposit box. We also experienced intermittent problems with water and electricity during the stay. Most seriously, a pair of gold earrings went missing from our room. We reported this immediately and were told an investigation would take place. When we eventually received a response, we were told we were responsible because the jewellery had not been kept in the safety deposit box. This was particularly frustrating as we had never been provided with a key or access to the safe in our replacement room. We also became concerned about room security, as the balcony door did not lock. To be fair, the staff were generally pleasant and not rude. Our concern was the **lack of urgency in dealing with serious issues**, particularly the cockroaches and missing jewellery. Individually, some issues might have been minor, but collectively they significantly affected our holiday. We spent far too much time returning to reception, waiting for problems to be addressed and following up with management. The missing jewellery and the way it was handled were ultimately the most upsetting aspects of a very disappointing stay. It was said by management that there was compensation to be provided but nothing was done to date. Management also stated that they would email TUI to discuss these issues and provide compensation and once we contacted TUI it was noted that there was no email received by them, although management assured us that they had already sent them the email. Which is dishonest.

We stayed in January 26. Staff all very helpful, the same people were all on for the full 7 days we were there. Breakfast has a great choice. Always something to eat depending on what you like. Pros: 20 mins from the airport Good restaurants close by Very close to the beach Great roof terrace Hotter than you think it’s gonna be (said 21 degrees Celsius, was pushing 30) Cons: harassed by people sometimes as soon as you leave the hotel wanting to take you to the market or just asking for food/money, although the staff were very good at dealing with this Pool is slippery when you get out, not just because you have wet feet but it was cleaned everyday Overall a good stay to start the year off with

A poor hotel experience overall. They did not let us know that there is a nightclub directly opposite which goes on until 5am every Sat night. The windows in the room were filthy. They also said we had not paid, when we had (which they apologised for). And we were given stupid wrist bands to wear ( we didn't). And our taxi did not turn up, booked through them. However, the night guard was lovely - as was the chef making the eggs (very good). But no breakfast tea. And room service found my sunglasses.
