This was my first time returning to Penang after almost eight years, and I was honestly unsure where I should stay in Penang. However, the moment I arrived at this resort, I immediately knew I had made the right choice. The architecture of this property is exactly what I had imagined and hoped for — beautifully designed with a timeless colonial charm, set elegantly against the side of a small hill overlooking the sea. The entire atmosphere feels peaceful, refined, and relaxing without trying too hard. I booked a room with a jacuzzi on the balcony facing the ocean, and it truly elevated the entire experience. In fact, I enjoyed the property so much that I extended my stay immediately after checking in. The staff throughout the resort were genuinely warm, friendly, and hospitable, which made the stay even more pleasant. That said, I do believe both the resort and the team themselves would greatly benefit from more structured professional hospitality training. There is absolutely nothing wrong with their attitude or willingness to help — in fact, their friendliness is one of the resort’s strengths — but with stronger professional service training, this property could easily elevate itself to a far higher standard internationally. Another area with huge potential would be the beachfront experience. The resort management should seriously consider enhancing or integrating the beachfront area directly in front of the property. At the moment, the presence of multiple local vendor setups somewhat obstructs the otherwise beautiful sea views from the bar, pool, and common sitting areas. Improving this aspect would significantly enhance the guest experience and further elevate the exclusivity and overall positioning of the resort. In terms of dining, the existing all-day dining restaurant is pleasant, but I do think the resort could introduce more culinary experiences to complement such a beautiful setting. For example, seafood dinners, barbecue evenings, or outdoor dining concepts on the lawn overlooking the beach and sea would create an even more memorable atmosphere for guests. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed my stay here. The property has character, charm, and tremendous potential. It has now become my top choice whenever I visit Penang, and I would gladly return again instead of staying elsewhere.

A truly delightful stay at Lone Pine, Penang. The hotel has a beautiful heritage charm, complemented by a gorgeous seafront lawn and relaxing beachfront setting. The room and bathroom were exceptionally spacious, stylish, and very comfortable. The reception team provided excellent service throughout our stay, always welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and elegant Penang getaway.

We stayed here for our friend’s birthday retreat, and it was fantastic. The room was spacious, felt really luxurious, and was incredibly comfortable. The staff were so friendly and welcoming; we especially loved the welcome drinks, the in-house dining, and the sunset bar. The sunsets here are honestly superb! I’d highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a calm, soothing retreat away from the city life.

The location was good; however, the room interior did not meet expectations. The shower faucet had unstable water temperature, the sink flooded easily, and the toiletries were disappointing for a 4-star hotel. I was ready to shower only to find that the body soap bottle was empty. There was hair on the pillow, one of the bedside lights was not functioning, and the TV appeared to be for display only. The fan worked only at speed 1, and the balcony door knob was nearly broken. While attempting to relax on the balcony, visible stains were found on the table and sofa chair. Breakfast was acceptable, but seating was limited. The sofas and lounge chairs around the pool area also had noticeable stains. Additionally, there was a charge of RM10 per game for the snooker table. Overall, this hotel has potential and could be a great choice if it were properly managed and maintained to 4–5 star standards. Unfortunately, the room condition does not justify the room rate. Given the overall experience, I would not recommend staying here again.

A wonderful boutique hotel with attentive and friendly staff, a relaxing spa, beach access, and a clean, spacious pool. The guests were international and pleasant, which added to the overall atmosphere. A Grab ride to George Town costs around 40 MYR, making it easy to explore the area. Room service was a bit slow — the food arrived cold and the ice bucket never came — which was the only downside. There are several recommended eateries within walking distance, offering more basic and authentic local food.
