we stayed in the roxity kids room. the room wasn’t ready even at 4.30pm but they automatically offered a late check out which helped reduce the annoyance. lobby staff at the unloading area are not very welcoming, with one guy in particularly very pushy and a bit rude, but in other spots the staff were somewhere between ok to great. the hotel is interesting especially if you’re into the pop culture aspect. we came for the water slides. i think the slides were ok but not as great as they could be. the first day they had volleyball which my kids loved. the second & third day they didn’t which seemed silly, especially since its so popular. how hard is it to just put up the net and toss a ball in? towels were nice and warm. pros: the room we got was pretty good for a family of 2 adults and 3 young kids. they loved having their own little space and a tv with ps4. the adults appreciated being able to cordone off the kids. bed was very good, pillows so-so cot they sent was good, so we had a good night’s rest. there was also a business center open so my husband could work in the night. the room was clean. the toilet had a kiddie seat & a little stool for our toddler. the hotel layout or at least where our room was was very central so the pool, breakfast, lobby and game room were close by. the game room was small but was still a hit with the kids. there were cute kids robes and slippers. they gave plenty of free water in glass bottles. cons: small bathroom! super cramped. the walls are paper thin. every sound outside traveled in and probably traveled out too. our tvs were not working very well until we called someone to fix it. verdict: i don’t think this is a 5 star hotel if anyone is coming for that reason. it is a good enough family friendly 4 star ish hotel though.

What you'd expect from Hard Rock Hotel. Nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, facilities well maintained and the Hard Rock Cafe has delicious food. The pool area is a massive win for families, kids and adults have lots of options and space to swim. Kids club is available too for when swimming isn't an option. Breakfast buffet is good, usual selection with local Malaysian twists, coffee good too 😄

My honest experience: What I liked: • Reception and concierge service were friendly and welcoming. • Breakfast was decent, with plenty of food and never running out. • Pool area was enjoyable and well-maintained. What disappointed me: • The SandBar staff lacked basic hospitality. I ordered drinks a few times, said “thank you,” but was met with no smile or acknowledgment, which felt unpleasant. • The Kids Club was poorly maintained, with very few activities and toys in bad condition. Definitely not engaging for children. • Despite booking early with a package that included free room upgrades, I was not given any. • Parking was inconvenient. In-house guests had to park far away while priority was given to Hard Rock Café walk-in customers. Thankfully, the shuttle service was fast, but this still felt unfair. • Compared to other Hard Rock Hotels, there isn’t much to do here. The overall vibe felt limited. • Most importantly, me and my family will not be repeating our stay at this hotel.

Our visit to Hard Rock Hotel Penang was truly memorable. While riding back from Thailand to KL, we decided to make a spontaneous stop in Penang. Although we initially planned to walk in, we called the hotel during lunch to check on room availability and were lucky to be assisted by Mdm Magdalene Koay, who was friendly, professional, and recommended the Rock Royalty Room (on the pricey side at RM2,224 for 2 nights); a choice we didn’t regret. It was a busy weekend with long check-in queues, but we were escorted to the Rock Royalty level for seamless check-in process with food and drinks serve too, making us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. The room was comfortable and the vibe vibrant yet relaxing. Breakfast was another highlight, wide variety of local and international dishes. Overall, everything from the hospitality to the experience felt seamless and special. Definitely a stay we would love to repeat!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a truly wonderful stay! The hotel is very well managed — from management to the F&B team, everyone did a fantastic job in making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had a minor issue with the air conditioning at first, but the team handled it efficiently and with great care. Special thanks to Duty Manager Acyn and her team for their professionalism, prompt assistance, and kind attitude throughout our stay. Everyone greeted us with a smile and made our twins’ birthday celebration extra special. We truly appreciate the warmth, attention to detail, and excellent hospitality. Highly recommend staying here — it’s the people who make the experience memorable!
