4/5 – Family stay, Summer 2024 If you are planning a stay at Abora Buenaventura by Lopesan Hotels, here is an important note regarding the pool area. The biggest downside we experienced was the situation with the sunbeds. Every morning, many guests placed towels on sunbeds as early as 7–8 AM and left for hours, sometimes returning only after lunch. My suggestion to the hotel: As a guest, I would recommend introducing a refundable towel-deposit system. Guests would “rent” towels and return them at checkout to get their deposit back. This would prevent towels from being left on sunbeds all day and ensure that everyone can enjoy the pool fairly. Implementing such a system could greatly improve the poolside experience and make the hotel even more enjoyable. Aside from this issue, we had a wonderful family holiday. The hotel is family-friendly, with plenty of activities for children. The all-inclusive food was excellent, with a wide variety of dishes. The staff were kind and helpful, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our room was cleaned daily, always spotless, and well maintained. The evening entertainment was a highlight of our stay. We especially loved the Freddie Mercury/Queen tribute performance — absolutely fantastic! We have many videos and unforgettable memories from that show. The hotel is about a 10–15 minute walk to the beach, even with a stroller, which was perfectly manageable. The hotel itself is a bit older, but well maintained and comfortable. A minor note about drinks: many cocktails were pre-mixed and not very impressive, and the coffee included in the all-inclusive was average. However, you could purchase high-quality coffee or other drinks at the bar for a small extra fee. Despite the sunbed issue, we had a truly enjoyable family holiday. The combination of excellent food, fun activities for children, entertainment, and a clean, welcoming environment made our stay memorable. We would recommend this hotel to families looking for a relaxing and fun holiday. With a better sunbed system, it could easily achieve an even higher rating.

A great value hotel, great staff, great food and great service. Second time staying here for winter pride and we are mostly going to book again. Typical day here is after breakfast we will chill by the pool until lunch, then do a day activity out of the hotel is hen back for some evening entertainment before heading out again, Love what the animation team do with the evening entertainment, very varied entertainment. Fiona was very friendly and talked to us about the island and winter pride. Reason for only 4 stars for rooms are 1. The balcony doors could’ve more sound proof 2. Bathroom lighting could be better, it’s either on or off, very night, could do with some softer lighting. 3. Could use some Soft close room doors to stop slams

I stayed at Abora Buenaventura for a week with four friends on an all-inclusive basis. Overall we had a good holiday, but a few things left a surprisingly sour aftertaste. The food was the biggest letdown. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were almost the same every day, with no real variety and no à-la-carte options at all. Several dishes had clearly been sitting out for too long, which really took away from the experience. We travelled as a group of five. Two friends arrived a whole day late due to a cancelled flight and still had to wait over an hour for their room to be cleaned, well after check-in time. Strangely enough, when I asked for just one extra hour for late check-out to better match my flight, that wasn’t possible. The towel system was another odd one. You first need to get a small card at reception, then walk to a separate hut to pick up a towel, with a 20-euro deposit and a 1-euro fee for every change. On departure I left the towel in the room, as I’ve always done at other hotels. The receptionist rolled her eyes and made me go back up seven floors with all my luggage just to fetch it. Not exactly the kind of hospitality I’m used to, especially compared to other Lopesan hotels I’ve stayed in from Spain to Thailand, where towels were always waiting in the room and the staff was much more welcoming. To be fair, we still enjoyed our time there, and the positives did outweigh the negatives. But these small issues added up and left a bit of a bad taste. With a few improvements, this hotel could easily offer a much better experience.

This was our first family holiday abroad, paid for with by money left to me by my wonderful Mum, so this holiday meant alot to us. We were in awe from the moment we arrived. The site of this huge, brightly lit, colourful, clean and modern looking hotel was most welcome. On entering the hotel we continued to be impressed. It was busy but the reception staff were working methodically and professionally to get through each party swiftly but still giving you the time you required. They were welcoming and polite. We enquired about a bus to the Aqualand water park, and was provided with a timetable and map which made it easy for us to find. On another occasion we wanted to go to Maspalomas beach, we were told there is a free bus service directly from the hotel. We proceeded to our rooms which were on the same floor just three rooms apart which gave us all piece of mind. The rooms were spacious, welcoming, comfy and immaculately clean, with a balcony view of the pool and bar area. We ate in the restaurant almost every day and there was always a seat available, plenty of choice and everything was hot and delicious. The staff are working hard to clear tables and are really helpful if you have a question. For us one of the best things was the entertainment, the animation team are excellent, they provided fun and such a great atmosphere. They are such a credit to this hotel. We will 100% be back and will be telling all our friends how great this gem of a hotel is. Thank you so much.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel during my trip to Gran Canaria. From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Check-in was smooth, and I felt at home right away. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and well-equipped with everything I needed. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed, daily housekeeping, and the beautiful view from the balcony – waking up to the ocean view was a highlight of my stay! The hotel’s location is fantastic – close to the beach, local restaurants, and many great spots for exploring the island. It’s a perfect base whether you're here to relax or go on adventures. The breakfast buffet was generous and delicious, with plenty of fresh options every morning. The pool area was also a big plus – clean, well-maintained, and ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. What truly made this place stand out was the relaxing atmosphere and the attention to detail in every aspect of service. It’s clear the team here cares about guests having a great experience. I would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Gran Canaria. Thank you for a memorable stay!
