We had a short stay of 2 days at this hotel and have a mixed review. We were able to check in early and it was super efficient. Unfortunately our room was in a block that was in need of renovation with stained, cracked and patched up tiles, worn furniture and was very dark as it had no patio doors, the shower room was extremely small and needed an update ( most of the others blocks seem to have been already been upgraded). The balcony faced a brick wall with no view and in the evening the side wall hid the air conditioning units from the next door restaurant kitchens ; which then proceeded to belch out warm fatty smelling air over our balcony. The room then became very hot and our ancient air conditioning unit struggled to cope. The hotel did offer to move us but as we were leaving in the middle of the 2nd night it didn’t seem worth the hassle. They really need not to use this block especially as it was apparent the hotel was not full. There are upgrading works being undertaken at the beachfront of the hotel and although being done with care, there was obviously noise and the nearest toilet facilities were in the middle of the hotel and of a very poor standard. In fairness to the hotel, it tried to compensate for this disruption by providing 1 free lunch or dinner plus 20% off drinks and food. Breakfast was very good and a large variety with outdoor seating and an air conditioned area if required. Evening meal was of an average standard, but as the hotel is very central there are lots of other eating options on your doorstep. We used the spa and this area has been upgraded and treatments were of a good standard. I would say currently this hotel is a 3 star when compared to other hotels we stayed in across Bali but it’s in a great location and has a lovely breezy beach area and beds etc If you are planning on staying in a garden room make sure it’s in a renovated and upgraded block with patio doors.

The Griya Santrian resort is perfectly located in Sanur: all lively bars and restaurants and a big state of the art shopping mall are all within walking distance. We had a spacious room which was cleaned meticulously. Ours had a nice view but be sure to ask a room which isn't in front of a blank wall (unless this wouldn't bother you). Breakfast was served as a buffet: plenty of variety but I've had better during our stay in Indonesia (it was not bad at all). The happy hour was nice but almost every where in Sanur this is offered. This is mostly a resort for more elderly people, so it is very tranquil. The restaurant was being renovated, so hopefully breakfast will be served in the future with a sea view. There was no need to get up early to have a good spot by one of the three pools or at the beach side which is a relief compared to some other resorts. All in all: good value for your money and as every where in Indonesia, the staff was very friendly.

We had the best stay at Griya Santrian in Feb 2026. Our family ranged from 9 years old to 76 years old and everyone was beyond satisfied. Don't be put off by reviews of construction in and out of the resort. We were hardly aware of any renovations in the resort and the sidewalks along the front of the hotel are completely finished and very walkable. If you're looking for a traditional Balinese-style hotel with gorgeous gardens and lovely staff, easy beach access and great location in Sanur, Griya Santrian is an excellent choice.

Very happy staying here. It's our 4th visit and will be back next year. Great pools. Great staff. Central location to many restaurants and Icon is a short stroll away. Gardens are gorgeous. Many friendly Aussies, kiwis and english visitors.

The selection was well-curated, offering a variety of high-quality dishes that were both fresh and flavorful. It was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our stay. The beachfront location truly elevates the experience. Having direct access to the beach allowed us to fully appreciate the natural beauty of Sanur. As someone who enjoys photography, I especially loved capturing the sunrise—the views were absolutely breathtaking and made each morning unforgettable. Overall, our family thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The combination of attentive service, elegant accommodations, and a peaceful setting makes this hotel stand out. We left with wonderful memories and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a sophisticated and relaxing retreat in Bali.
