Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort

I saw some reviews before booking about the lack of maintenance, aging facilities and overall experience not matching expectations from a Centara hotel. However, I decided to give it a try nonetheless based on the overall positive rating. Unfortunately, the recent reviews proved true. I booked one of the more expensive bungalows. Immediately upon entering the room it smelled musty and the old air-conditioning unit was extremely noisy with room noise levels around 45 decibels and hardly cooling. You also can’t adjust the temperature because it might break the unit (see photo). As a light sleeper, I was already alarmed at this and just being in the room during daytime was already unbearable. One of the features of the room is the outside bathtub, which hadn’t been cleaned and some broken tiles made it seem not safe to use anyway. Further inspection of the facilities were even more disappointing with no vibe at the swimming pool, staff cleaning the ice cream fridge at the pool bar because I guess low season, trash and tree branches at the front lawn next to the beach etc. The property is also located far from everything and you need to walk far to reach restaurants and shops. I couldn’t find any positive reason to stay and decided to leave. Even though I lost quite a bit of money due to no refund policy, it was the right decision to do early check-out.

Everything about this place is pretty good. Its an old property but that doesn't affect your experience. Nice comfortable rooms, beds are good. Staff is friendly, attentive. Pool is good, adults can use the water slide too ;) it was fun. Really good gym. Breakfast too is good. Machine coffee could be better but they also serve thai tea and coffee. Check-in happened a bit late- around 4.30 becuase of the holiday season but other than that it was a beautiful stay.

Old, wornout, needs lots of cleanin and fixing. We requested our money back but since we used Agoda, it was not possible. Staff was VERY kind and gave us a better room, which was clean and had all the amenities, but it didnt really save the stay. The hotel overall seemed like it had been closed for 5 years and just reopened without cleaning or fixing. The beach front is looking like a junkyard. Centara is well know and good hotel chain and would not expect this from it.

We booked 1 night with 50% off on booking.com. Does it explain why we were treated differently than other guests? No refreshment or refreshing towels, breakfast time / hotel facilities / activities (free drop-in yoga) not presented. We had a room in one of the garden buildings around the second pool (great and large pool by the way). There is mold stains in the shower, shower curtain and bedroom curtain. Cleaning was done quickly. The rooms are aging. On the positive side, great team at the spa with great range of treatments, large bedroom, beautiful gardens, very calm.

We stayed at Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort for one week in room 137, right by the beach. The location is really beautiful — the beachfront setting is definitely one of the highlights of this hotel. Waking up and being so close to the sea was wonderful. The breakfast was amazing with a great variety of choices each morning. The staff were very nice, friendly, and always willing to help, which made our stay more pleasant. However, there were some areas that could be improved. During our one-week stay, the blanket cover was not changed, and the room did not feel properly cleaned at times. Better housekeeping attention would make a big difference to the overall experience. Overall, it’s a lovely beachfront resort with great staff and excellent breakfast, but housekeeping standards could be improved
