Role: Business Development Executive (Trade Sales, Field Based)

Location: Horsham / Field-based


Who we are looking for:

The Business Development Executive is a field-based role focused on increasing the visibility, engagement, and sales of all SHG brands across the UK travel trade. Acting as an ambassador for the business, this role is centred on building strong relationships with travel agents, delivering impactful product training, and driving commercial growth.

Working closely with the Head of Trade Partnerships and Trade Partnerships Manager, the successful candidate will support the delivery of the wider trade strategy and contribute to growing sales across Citalia, Sovereign Luxury Travel, and American Holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

Trade Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with travel agents across assigned regions
  • Conduct regular store visits, training sessions, and relationship building meetings
  • Act as the face of SHG within the trade, representing the brands with energy and professionalism
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales with both existing and new agent partners

Sales & Brand Growth

  • Drive sales across all three SHG brands through proactive agent engagement
  • Support the delivery of trade campaigns, incentives, and promotions
  • Ensure SHG brands remain front of mind through consistent follow up and visibility
  • Identify and maximise opportunities to convert enquiries into bookings

Training & Brand Advocacy

  • Deliver engaging product training sessions both in person and virtually
  • Increase agent knowledge of SHG brands, products, and key selling points
  • Promote new campaigns, offers, tools, and initiatives to the trade

Events & Industry Engagement

  • Represent SHG at trade shows, industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Support and host agent events, training sessions, and engagement activities
  • Participate in overseas conferences and educational trips where required

Administration & Organisation

  • Maintain strong organisation and planning while working in the field
  • Accurately record all activity, visits, and opportunities, ensuring clear follow up
  • Consistently engage with agent partners to build long term relationships
  • Balance field activity with administrative responsibilities to support sales performance

Skills & Experience:

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to building relationships and driving sales
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confident, engaging personality with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • A positive, energetic approach with a genuine passion for travel and working with people
  • Travel and tourism experience preferred but not essential
  • Previous field sales experience not required, ideal for someone looking to step into a field-based role

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK
  • Flexibility to attend industry events and conferences, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel overseas for conferences and familiarisation trips

Working Pattern

This is primarily a field-based role visiting agents across the UK. The role will also include 1 to 2 days working from home each week for planning, follow up, and administrative tasks.
